Phillips signed a minor league deal with the White Sox on Monday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
The lefty made three appearances for Miami back in 2013 but spent last season in the Japanese Central League. It's unlikely that he'll see much time in the majors this upcoming season, if at all, although his previous experience pitching at the highest level certainly bodes well in his favor.

Zach Phillips has agreed to a one-year contract with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Japan's Central League.
Phillips was outrighted off the Marlins' 40-man roster earlier this month and opted for free agency. The 27-year-old left-hander posted a cool 2.44 ERA and 74/24 K/BB ratio in 59 innings this summer at the Triple-A level.

Phillips was designated for assignment by the Rangers earlier this week after allowing 50 hits and 26 runs in 44 2/3 innings at Triple-A Round Rock. He's only 24, so there is some hope left for a career revitalization.
