Dustin Nippert has signed a contract with the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization.
Nippert was non-tendered by the Rangers in December after posting a rough 4.29 ERA and 1.68 WHIP over 38 relief appearances in 2010. He found no interest on the free agent market here in the states and will likely play out the entire 2011 season overseas.

Nippert, 29, turned in a 4.29 ERA and 1.68 WHIP over 38 relief appearances this year and the Rangers did not want to hand him a raise from the $665,000 salary that he earned in 2010. Rightly so.

He'll take the place of the injured Alexi Ogando on the Rangers' World Series roster. Nippert hasn't been on the roster since the ALDS against the Rays. He allowed two runs in one inning in Game 3 on October 9.

Dustin Nippert has been dropped from the Rangers' roster for the ALCS.
Nippert allowed two earned runs in a one-inning appearance during the ALDS and probably wouldn't have been used in the second round beyond mop-up duty. He finished the regular season with a 4.29 ERA.

Dustin Nippert is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Nipper has been sidelined since July 19, when he was nailed in the head with a comebacker off the bat of Tigers outfielder Austin Jackson. He should only require a couple of minor league appearances.

Dustin Nippert is finally over the headaches that have plagued him since being hit in the head by a comebacker off the bat of Austin Jackson on July 19.
"The dizzy spells and the headaches and stuff like that lasted a lot longer than I thought they would," said Nippert. "But they're gone now, so hopefully they'll stay away. I just have to start conditioning and try to get back to normal as fast as possible." Nippert has begun long-tossing, however he has yet to throw off a mound. He'll likely require a minor league rehab stint before returning from the disabled list.

Dustin Nippert (head) is expected to go out on a minor league rehab this week.
Nippert hasn't pitched since being hit in head with a comebacker off the bat of Tigers outfielder Austin Jackson on July 19. There's no room for him on the major league roster right now, but a stint in the minors should bide some time. It's worth noting that Nippert is currently out of options.

There is no timetable for the return of Dustin Nippert (head).
The big right-hander was struck in the head by an Austin Jackson line drive Monday night and was placed on the DL. A CT scan was negative, but Nippert has symptoms that need to subside before he can think about getting back on a mound. "I just have to lay low until all of my symptoms are gone, like headaches, dizziness, fatigue," he said. "Then I can slowly get back into things."

Dustin Nippert (head) will be placed on the disabled list.
Nippert was hit in the head by an Austin Jackson comebacker on Monday and the Rangers want to be sure he has a nice cushion of time to recover. It was a scary scene. He has a 5.36 ERA and 1.98 WHIP this season.

Dustin Nippert (head) was taken to to Henry Ford Hospital for precautionary reasons.
Nippert was struck in the head by a liner off the bat of Austin Jackson in the sixth inning of Monday's game. The Rangers obviously won't take any chances here, but the good news is that the team's training staff believes Nippert is okay. Great to hear.

Dustin Nippert left Monday's game against the Tigers after taking a comebacker off his head.
Boy, was he lucky, as the ball hit by Austin Jackson appeared to hit his right temple. The good news is that he was able to walk off on his own power and never lost consciousness. He was replaced by righty Darren O'Day. Stay tuned for an update on Nippert's status.

With an off-day on Monday, the Rangers have decided to skip the fifth starter in their rotation next week.
The Rangers originally planned to use either Dustin Nippert or Matt Harrison against the Angels on Tuesday, but will go with Scott Feldman on regular rest, instead. "We sat around and discussed it and felt it was the best way to go," said Rangers manager Ron Washington. The club won't need a fifth starter again until next Saturday against the White Sox.

It was the first start of the season for Nippert, who had a 4.60 ERA in 29 1/3 innings out of the pen. He'll likely return there now.

Dustin Nippert is scheduled to start on Thursday for the Rangers in place of the injured Rich Harden.
Nippert got the nod over Matt Harrison, who has a 19/14 K/BB ratio in six starts this season. Neither should be owned in mixed fantasy leagues.
