Francisco signed a minor league contract with the Jays in late June but lasted only a couple of weeks. The 34-year-old allowed six runs -- five earned -- over 3 2/3 innings earlier this season in the White Sox bullpen. He hasn't been an effective reliever since 2011.

White Sox purchased the contract of RHP Frank Francisco from Triple-A Charlotte.
The 34-year-old former closer was limited to just eight appearances last season due to elbow troubles. He was off to a terrific start at Charlotte though which prompted the move, hurling eight scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out 12. It's not out of the question that he could work his way into save situations if he performs well.

Frank Francisco is heading for X-rays on his thumb after being hit by a line drive off the bat of Logan Morrison during the eighth inning of Saturday's game.
It initially appeared that the ball got Francisco in the right wrist, but it was actually his thumb that took the brunt of the hit. Mets skipper Terry Collins indicated that his thumb has already swelled significantly. Even if there is no structural damage, expect Francisco to miss a few games.

Frank Francisco was removed from Saturday's game against the Marlins after being hit by a comebacker in the eighth inning.
The ball off the bat of Logan Morrison drilled Francisco in his right wrist, and he was immediately surrounded by the training staff. He'll presumably head for X-rays and the team should provide an update on his status shortly.

Frank Francisco revealed Sunday that he's pitching with a tear in his right flexor-pronator.
It explains why Francisco's rehab has been painfully long. The reliever received a cortisone shot in his elbow and feels fine, at least for the time being. He's not able to throw on back-to-back days.

Francisco has missed the entire 2013 season due to elbow injuries. He's been on a minor league rehab assignment since late August and appears ready to rejoin the bullpen. The 33-year-old right-hander is a free agent at the end of the season.

ESPN New York expects the Mets to release Frank Francisco (elbow) before he's activated from the disabled list.
Francisco has been out all season with elbow problems and is currently on a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton. Even though he finally appears close to making a return, the Mets seem determined to cut him lose rather than let him reestablish his value during the final month of the season. Francisco is making $6.5 million in the second year of two-year, $12 million deal.

Out all season with elbow issues, this was Francisco's first rehab appearance since July 15. He gave up a solo homer, but also struck out two batters. There's an outside chance he could return down the stretch, though the Mets obviously shouldn't count on him.
