Newly acquired outfielder Curtis Granderson was activated by the Los Angeles Dodgers and was in the starting lineup Saturday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers. It was among a flurry of moves by the Dodgers, who placed right-hander Yu Darvish on the 10-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Joc Pederson and left-hander Edward Paredes to Triple-A Oklahoma City.Darvish, a trade-deadline acquisition from the Texas Rangers, is dealing with lower-back tightness. The move is retroactive to Aug. 15.--The Chicago Cubs claimed veteran catcher Rene Rivera off waivers from the New York Mets to add insurance at the position.Rivera has played all or part of nine major league seasons with the Seattle Mariners (2004-06), Minnesota Twins (2011), San Diego Padres (2013-14), Tampa Bay Rays (2015) and Mets (2016-17).The 34-year-old is a career .215 hitter with 34 homers and 141 RBIs in 453 games. His DL stint is retroactive to Aug. 14, making him eligible to return on Aug. 24.
