Reed declined his outright to Triple-A Toledo, and will become a free agent, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Reed appeared in 32 games for the big league club in 2014, posting a 4.18 ERA. His only other major league stint came in 2013, in which he put up a 4.24 ERA in 16 games.

Reed was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

The Tigers needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, so Reed will now pass through the waiver process.

Evan Reed has been charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault as a result of an incident that occurred on March 30 in a Motor City Casino hotel room.

Each charge carries a prison term of up to 15 years if Reed is convicted. Reed allegedly met a 45-year-old woman at a bar that night before taking her back to his room and assaulting her. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said that he has interview numerous witnesses and also reviewed surveillance footage before the charges were brought. Reed, who is currently at Triple-A Toledo, is expected to turn himself into the authorities.

With the Tigers, he posted a 4.88 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP over 27.2 innings, which were better than his numbers at Triple-A.
