Sat Oct 6 201214:58Angels release Ryan Langerhans
Angels released OF Ryan Langerhans.
Langerhans made a brief appearance with the Angels earlier this season, but offers little value as a defensive replacement. It's possible he'll be invited to spring training with another team as an extra outfielder.

Sun May 20 201221:21Langerhans seperates shoulder, DL to come
Ryan Langerhans separated his right shoulder Sunday when he ran into the outfield wall chasing a John Baker double Sunday.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said both Langerhans and Vernon Wells (thumb) were likely headed to the disabled list. Since Torii Hunter will not be back with the club Monday, Peter Bourjos immediately becomes an intriguing fantasy commodity for the coming scoring period.

Angels purchased the contract of OF Ryan Langerhans from Triple-A Salt Lake.
He's taking the spot of Torii Hunter, who has been placed on the restricted list. A good defensive outfielder, Langerhans was off to a nice start with Salt Lake, batting .274/.430/.462 with five homers. He doesn't figure to play much.

Ryan Langerhans was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Indians due to illness.
He should be back to normal in the next day or two. Langerhans, a non-roster invitee, is 2-for-10 this spring in his quest to win a bench spot on the Opening Day roster.

Fri Dec 23 201114:45Angels sign Ryan Langerhans
Angels signed OF Ryan Langerhans to a minor league deal.
Langerhans sports an ugly .226/.333/.372 career batting line across parts of nine seasons but is sound defensively at all three outfield spots. He could possibly crack the Opening Day roster as an extra outfielder.

Fri Jul 29 201116:59D-Backs acquired Langerhans from Mariners
Diamondbacks acquired OF Ryan Langerhans from the Mariners for cash considerations.
He'll report to Triple-A Reno. Langerhans was optioned to the minors in early May after batting .173 with three homers and six RBI over 19 games with the Mariners. The 31-year-old is solid defensively and knows how to take a walk, but he's unlikely to ever be fantasy relevant.

Mon May 9 201112:44Ryan Langerhans designated for assignment
Mariners designated OF Ryan Langerhans for assignment.
The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Mike Wilson. Langerhans has always been a talented defensive outfielder, but he's never been able to hit a lick and that hadn't changed this season, as he was sporting a .173/.317/.346 batting line.

Fri May 6 201100:47Ryan Langerhans goes 0-for-4
Ryan Langerhans went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Thursday, dropping his average to .173.
Langerhans is hitting even worse than Michael Saunders lately, having collected just one RBI over the last three weeks. We're still guessing that Saunders will be sent down when Franklin Gutierrez returns, but if the Mariners think they'll still have plenty of at-bats for him, they could jettison Langerhans instead.

Wed Apr 13 201103:14Mariners' Langerhans hits third homer
Ryan Langerhans took Ricky Romero deep Tuesday for his third homer of the season.
Langerhans already has as many homers this season as he's had in any season since 2007, and he's had just 20 at-bats. This won't last for long, but if Langerhans keeps hitting, the Mariners will be tempted to slide him over to left after Franklin Gutierrez returns.

Fri Apr 1 201100:54M's purchase contract of OF Langerhans
Mariners purchased the contract of OF Ryan Langerhans.
Langerhans batted .316 with two homers and nine RBI over 56 at-bats during spring training, though his 24/4 K/BB ratio was somewhat out of step with what we're accustomed to from him. The 31-year-old is expected to get the first crack in center field while Franklin Gutierrez is sidelined.

Thu Mar 31 201121:52Langerhans to start in center field for M's
Mariners manager Eric Wedge confirmed Thursday that Ryan Langerhans will start ahead of Michael Saunders in center field on Opening Day.
This is a bit of a surprise, as Saunders was considered the favorite to fill in for Franklin Gutierrez. "He really has had a nice camp for us," Wedge said in regards to Langerhans. "Michael will be in center field some, too. But we felt that's where we wanted to start on Opening Day, and we'll go from there." Langerhans is a quality defender, but he has a pathetic .229/.333/.374 career batting line. Needless to say, fantasy owners can look for help elsewhere.

Wed Mar 23 201118:14Langerhans lands spot on M's roster
Ryan Langerhans has landed a spot on the Mariners' season-opening roster.
Langerhans posted a healthy .333/.385/.583 batting line across 36 at-bats this spring. He won't come close to that kind of production over the course of an entire season, but the M's don't have a better option right now.

Mon Mar 21 201104:51Langerhans candidate for last outfield spot
Hitting .367 in 25 at-bats this spring, Ryan Langerhans is now a legitimate candidate for an Opening Day roster spot.
Langerhans attributes his success this past month to a reworked swing. Still, with Franklin Gutierrez and Ichiro Suzuki as locks, and Milton Bradley and Michael Saunders receiving strong consideration, the Mariners might not have room for an aging contact hitter in the outfield, especially one who has not hit over .241 in six years.

Wed Nov 3 201016:20Langerhans elects free agency
Ryan Langerhans has elected to become a free agent.
Langerhans had the right to declare himself a free agent after he was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. The 30-year-old outfielder batted .196/.344/.318 with three homers and four RBI in 107 at-bats with the M's this season. He underwent surgery on his left elbow last month and is expected to be ready for spring training. He'll likely get an invite somewhere.
