INF Josh Wilson was acquired by the Indians from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash consideration. Wilson was assigned to Triple-A Columbus. Wilson, 36, has spent the 2017 season at Triple-A Round Rock, hitting .329 with four home runs and 16 RBIs in 73 at bats.
Tue Sep 8 201514:22Wilson recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday
Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The Tigers added Wilson to the 40-man roster earlier Tuesday, and he's now been officially recalled and will join the team in advance of the night's matchup against Tampa Bay. With Jose Iglesias (finger) currently sidelined, Wilson will simply provide depth up the middle now that the Triple-A season is over.

The Tigers have designated Daniel Fields for assignment, clearing a spot on the 40-man roster for Wilson, according to MLive.com.
Wilson provides the team with depth down the middle, what with Jose Iglesias sidelined with a broken finger. But he's versatile enough to rove the diamond if they need him for that.
Mon Sep 7 201521:28Wilson expected to be called up by Tigers on Tuesday
Wilson is expected to be called up by the Tigers on Tuesday, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
Wilson isn't currently on the 40-man roster so the Tigers will likely have to make a corresponding move come Tuesday. The 34-year-old is expected to provide depth as the season winds down, which limits his value since he's not in line for consistent playing time.
Wed Jul 8 201516:01wilson accepted assignment to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday
wilson accepted his assignment to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Wilson experienced some success in his brief major league stint, batting 8-for-21 with three RBI and four runs over 11 games with the Tigers. He saw a brief run of starts at third base, but most of his action came as a pinch hitter afterwards. He'll provide organizational depth at this point, but could be a candidate for recall should an injury occur in the Tigers' infield.
Tue Jul 7 201518:14Wilson designated for assignment by Tigers on Tuesday
Wilson was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
The 34-year-old had been used sparingly, seeing a mere four at-bats over the past two weeks, and was an obvious candidate to lose his 40-man spot with Marc Krauss coming aboard via a waiver claim. Wilson figures to pass through waivers and play out most of the year as organizational depth in the minors.

Wilson, who was called up from Triple-A last week, smacked a double and finished 1-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's win over the Cubs. It was his third start at third base in the last four games.
He's hit in each of those three games -- try 6-for-13 with three RBI. But it's just a mirage. Career .229 utility infielders don't change their spots at age 34. He'll be back to his usual light-hitting ways in short order.
Tue Jun 2 201515:14The Tigers purchased Wilson's contract Tuesday
The Tigers purchased Wilson's contract Tuesday.
The Tigers were previously carrying Andrew Romine as the only backup infielder, and Wilson will provide additional depth. The 34-year-old Wilson owns a .226/.278/.316 career slash line in 1,057 at-bats, with just 10 home runs and 14 stolen bases.
Fri Apr 3 201509:36Wilson reassigned to Tigers' minor league camp Friday
Wilson was reassigned to the Tigers' minor league camp Friday, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
Wilson was battling Andrew Romine and Hernan Perez for one of the two available utility infield spots, but didn't have a strong enough camp to warrant an addition to the 40-man roster. The end of the line could be nearing for the 34-year-old Wilson, who hit a sickly .239/.271/.299 during his 24-game stint with the Rangers in 2014.
Sun Jan 11 201513:35Wilson has signed minor league contract with Tigers
Wilson has signed a minor league contract with the Tigers, Jason Beck of the Tigers' official site reports.
Wilson played in 24 games with the Rangers last season, batting .239/.271/.299 with eight RBI and seven runs scored in 67 at-bats. He will add some depth for the Tigers in the infield, and could be called up at some point as a utility infielder.

Rangers designated INF Josh Wilson for assignment.
It's part of a big roster shakeup, as Donnie Murphy (neck) is headed to the disabled list while Rougned Odor and Luis Sardinas are coming up from the minors to handle second base duties. Wilson, 33, hit .224 (15-for-67) with a .526 OPS in 24 games.

Wed Apr 23 201401:25UTIL Wilson plays hero in Rangers' victory
Josh Wilson went 2-for-4, smacked the game-tying RBI double, and scored the game-winning run in Tuesday's 5-4, comeback victory against the A's.
It's possible that A's closer Luke Gregerson wasn't taking the 33-year-old journeyman with a .596 career OPS seriously, as his fat, hanging off-speed offering was juicy enough for Wilson to charge it to left and score Leonys Martin with two outs in the ninth. Michael Choice singled Wilson in to give Texas the 5-4 advantage, and then Joakim Soria tossed a scoreless ninth to finish things off. Despite the heroics, Wilson shouldn't be owned outside of the deepest AL-only leagues.

Sun Apr 13 201417:50Wilson scores Rangers' only run in victory
Josh Wilson scored the Rangers' lone run in a win over the Astros on Sunday.
Filling in for Jurickson Profar at second base, Wilson has seven hits in 21 at-bats to start the year. He came around to score on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to account for the only run in Sunday's game. He's not an exciting fantasy entity and shouldn't be owned outside of deep AL-only leagues.

Mon Mar 31 201418:19Josh Wilson knocks in three runs
Getting the start at second over Donnie Murphy, Josh Wilson went 2-for-3 with a three-run double against the Phillies on Monday.
The Rangers chose Wilson's defense to Murphy's offense today, then got the best of both worlds with him coming up with a big hit early. It's a disappointing start to those who grabbed Murphy in AL-only leagues. Wilson will play if he hits.
