Fri May 8 201517:04Carp released by Dodgers
Carp has been released by the Dodgers, True Blue LA's Eric Stephen reports.
Carp has bounced around quite a bit over the past few seasons, and he can probably find another organization that gives him a better chance to reach the majors. The Dodgers already have more starting-caliber batters than spots in the lineup.

Carp signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers and will play for Triple-A Oklahoma City, CBSSports.com reports.
Carp will make the equivalent of $1 million for the season if he's called up to the majors. He likely doesn't have a viable path to playing with the Dodgers, however, unless there are several injuries.

Thu Apr 2 201509:12Carp battling Clint Robinson for final spot on Nationals' bench
Carp is battling Clint Robinson for the final spot on the Nationals' bench, the Washington Post reports.
Robinson has been the far better hitter this spring, but Carp is the more experienced big league player. Whoever wins the job will have limited fantasy value as a left-handed pinch-hitter, and would be on the 25-man roster only until injured players like Anthony Rendon (knee) and Jayson Werth (shoulder) get healthy.

The Nationals' right-handed-heavy starting lineup could give Carp an edge on Tyler Moore in the spring battle for a bench spot, the Washington Post reports.
Moore is out of options, however, which could complicate the roster decisions for the Nats. Given the injury history of first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, whoever wins the job backing him up could have more fantasy value than expected in deeper NL-only leagues.
Sat Aug 30 201416:16The Rangers designated Carp for assignment Saturday
The Rangers designated Carp for assignment Saturday.
Carp's tenure with the Rangers was nothing short of a disaster, as he hit just .125/.217/.125 in 17 games (46 plate appearances). Chances are, he'll pass through waivers unclaimed and once again elect free agency, but Carp hit .296/.362/.523 with the Red Sox last season and could draw some interest as a bench bat.

Carp is out of the lineup Saturday versus the Angels, John Blake of the Rangers' official site reports.
Since returning to action Tuesday following a brief absence due a tight groin, Carp has recorded two singles and two walks in 13 at-bats. He'll hand off first base to J.P Arencibia, who is batting sixth in the order.
Tue Aug 12 201416:55Carp (groin) back in lineup Tuesday versus Rays

Carp was immediately inserted into the starting lineup, hitting fifth, in his first game with Texas. He's expected to see lots of playing time down the stretch, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Carp was finding playing time hard to come by in 2014 and wouldn't be a bad addition for those in deeper leagues needing some power and at-bats.
Sun Aug 3 201416:50Mike Carp: Traded to Rangers
Carp was traded to the Rangers on Sunday, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports.
Boston's additions of Yoenis Cespedes and Allen Craig at the trade deadline left no room for Carp in the team's crowded outfield, prompting his designation for assignment over the weekend. Although the Rangers are just playing out the string of a disastrous season, playing time should be much more plentiful for Carp than he enjoyed in Boston. The Rangers are currently counting on J.P. Arencibia (.186/.242/.389 batting line) and Jim Adduci (.260/.333/.320) to hold down starting spots at first base and left field, respectively, with neither player likely to block Carp.
Fri Aug 1 201416:03Carp DFA'd on Friday
Carp was DFA'd on Friday, WEEI.com reports.
Carp, who reportedly requested a trade prior to the deadline, will be removed from the 40-man roster and the waiver wire could be in his future. After a successful part-time role in 2013, Carp has disappointed this season, hitting just .198 with nine RBI and 17 strikeouts in 86 at-bats.
Sat Jul 26 201416:51Boston's Mike Carp has made trade request
Mike Carp has requested to be traded.
Carp was a strong bench player for the Red Sox last year, but this season he has a weak batting line of .215/.337/.304 in 95 plate appearances. He feels he could be more productive somewhere else and the Boston front office seems poised to sell some pieces at the deadline.
