Polk, who was questionable for Thursday night's game due to a knee injury, rushed for five yards on one carry and caught two passes for 17 yards in a loss to the Colts.

Polk hadn't practiced leading up to the game and faced the prospect of diminished playing time with Arian Foster's increased role. According to Pro Football Focus, Polk played 11 snaps compared to Foster's 46 and Alfred Blue's 16.

With Jonathan Grimes (knee) ruled out, Polk will serve as the No. 3 running back behind Arian Foster and Alfred Blue. Polk is dealing with a knee injury of his own, but he's at least available in the event of an emergency.

We'll revisit Polk's status as Thursday's kickoff approaches, but with Arian Foster back in action and likely in line to see more work in Week 5, Polk largely slots in as an option in deeper formats, which can also be said of fellow reserve back Alfred Blue.

Polk did not participate in Tuesday's practice because of a knee injury, according to the Texans' official site reports.

The Texans backfield is in a bit of flux, with both Polk and Jonathan Grimes (hamstring) missing Tuesday's workout. Arian Foster is returning from a groin injury, but may not be ready for a full-time load.

Polk rushed three times for 27 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 48-21 loss to the Falcons. He also caught three of his four targets for an additional 23 yards.

The return of Arian Foster (groin) didn't have quite the impact Houston was hoping for, so there was some opportunities for Polk, who scored his touchdown during garbage time. It's hard to see how Polk carves out anything more than a role as a third-down back and occasional fill-in, if Arian Foster is indeed back and healthy.

Polk carried five times for five yards and was not targeted in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers.

Polk, who led the team's rushing attack in Week 2, was not needed nearly as much Sunday as starter Alfred Blue ripped off 139 yards on 31 carries.

Polk carried the ball 13 times for 38 yards in Sunday's game against the Panthers. He added two receptions on eight targets for an additional nine yards.

With Alfred Blue accounting for just 10 yards of offense and the Texans down a pair of scores in the fourth quarter, Polk assumed a larger workload and wound up leading the backfield in rushes and targets. Blue has been unimpressive through two games and despite Polk's inefficiency, he appears to be carving out a larger role for himself. Next week brings an inviting home matchup against the Buccaneers.

Polk gained 24 yards on 10 carries, adding four catches (four targets) for 37 yards and a touchdown, in Thursday's preseason game against the Cowboys.

With Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes allowed to rest, Polk and Kenny Hilliard handled all of the backfield work, competing against each other for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart. Given that Hilliard had just 42 yards on 18 carries and 14 yards on four receptions (eight targets), Polk seemingly has the upper hand. He might eventually push Blue and/or Grimes for snaps, especially on passing downs, but Polk is unlikely to have a major role in Week 1.

Polk led the Texans with 36 yards rushing on seven carries in Saturday night's preseason game against Denver. He also led the receivers with 34 yards on five catches (six targets).

Polk played mostly in the second half with the second- and third-team units, so there's nothing to be gleaned here. He's currently third on the depth chart behind Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes, but his pass-catching skills may get him some opportunities that allow him to move ahead of Grimes.

Arian Foster's groin injury has altered the depth chart and roles of other backs. While Alfred Blue will replace Foster as the lead back, Polk is competing for the backup role along with Jonathan Grimes and Kenny Hilliard. The Texans see him as a third-down back, but that could change based on his preseason work.

Polk, who signed as a free agent from the Eagles in the offseason, had been pegged as a third-down back, but could see an expanded role due to Arian Foster's groin injury, the Houston Chronicle reports. "I view myself as doing everything, running, passing game, blocking whatever they want me to do," Polk said. "I just make sure I can do everything, so when my number is called, I won't let them down."

Polk scored seven touchdowns over his last two seasons as a reserve in Philadelphia. We expect Polk to get a long look when the Texans kick off the preseason Saturday against the 49ers.

Polk's restricted free agent tender offer from the Eagles has been rescinded by the team, CSN Philadelphia reports.

Polk's rescinded offer comes as another surprise from the Eagles' front office. Following some injury woes last season, Polk rushed for 44 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries over two of Philadelphia's final three regular season games. Nonetheless, that late momentum apparently wasn't enough to keep Polk's tender offer on the table, so now the running back will be free to sign with any other team ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Polk finished 2014 with 172 yards and four touchdowns on 46 carries. He also returned a kickoff for a 102-yard touchdown.

Polk built up some real momentum on offense toward the end of the year, giving Philadelphia more of a pure power element than LeSean McCoy or Darren Sproles could offer. In two games over the span of the final three regular season games, Polk totaled three rushing touchdowns on nine carries for 44 yards. He might be able to establish himself as a steadily-used short-yardage specialist in 2015, though he'll otherwise remain on the bench behind McCoy and perhaps Sproles.

Polk played the role of goal-line back last week against the Cowboys, rushing for two touchdowns from inside the five-yard line. If you feel like gambling in a touchdown-heavy league, you could take a chance on him, but keep in mind that he rarely receives more than a handful of carries.
