Eliezer Alfonzo has joined Triple-A Albuquerque.
Alfonzo signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers over the winter, but he was unable to report to major league camp this spring because he had dengue fever. However, he's now back 100 percent and was recently playing in the Mexican League. The 34-year-old backstop will serve as organizational depth with Los Angeles.

Eliezer Alfonzo will not be in major league camp with the Dodgers because he has dengue fever.
Dengue fever is an infectious tropical disease which is spread by mosquitoes. He is currently in Venezuela and is not permitted to fly for 5-7 days. Once he's back to full health, he will report to minor league camp. Per Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, Matt Wallach will replace him in big league camp.

Alfonzo should be on the way in a couple of days. He signed a non-guarnateed deal with the Dodgers this winter.

The 33-year-old backstop batted .267/.304/.320 with one home run and nine RBI over 79 plate appearances with the Rockies last season.

MLB suspended Eliezer Alfonzo for 100 games after a second positive test for a performance-enhancing drug.
Alfonzo was previously suspended in April of 2008 as a member of the Giants. He joins Manny Ramirez as the only players to test positive twice for PEDs. "I am surprised by this positive test. I learned my lesson in 2008 and have not taken any prohibited substances since then," Alfonzo said in a statement. "With the union's help I intend to fight this suspension." Alfonzo, who is currently on the Rockies' active roster, is batting .267/.304/.320 with one home run and nine RBI over 79 plate appearances this season.

Eliezer Alfonzo hit his first major league grand slam and plated a fifth run with a bases-loaded walk Saturday in the Rockies' 10-6 win over the Padres.
Alfonzo, who took over as Chris Iannetta's backup a couple of weeks ago, was making his fifth start for the Rockies. The homer was his 17th as a big leaguer, but he has just five since a fine rookie season with the Giants in 2006.

Rockies purchased the contract of C Eliezer Alfonzo from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
He'll replace Matt Pagnozzi on the active roster. Alfonzo, who signed a minor league deal with the Rockies over the winter, was batting .319 at the Triple-A level this season, but he's a .236 career hitter over 516 major league at-bats. He can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
