Thu Jun 11 201517:00Bedard announced Thursday that he retiring
Bedard announced Thursday that he is retiring, J.P Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Bedard was attempting a comeback with the Dodgers organization, logging three starts at Hig-A Rancho Cucamonga. After some injury-filled seasons in Seattle, Bedard bounced around with Boston, Pittsburgh, Houston, and Tampa Bay. He never regained his form from the 2006-2007 seasons, which made him the centerpiece of a deal that sent him to Seattle for Adam Jones, Chris Tillman, George Sherrill, and others.

Bedard has a 5.02 ERA and 7:1 K:BB in 14.1 innings for High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
A back injury pushed his 2015 debut back to May 25. Bedard could see starting duties for the Dodgers at some point this year, but he's obviously got a long way to go.
Wed Apr 1 201513:28Bedard (back) will be reassigned to minors
Bedard (back) will be reassigned to the minors, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.
Bedard's reassignment to the minors should come as no surprise given the back injury that will sideline him until late April or early May. When he does return, he'll likely serve as organizational depth.

Bedard is expected to miss four-to-six weeks with a strained back muscle, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
This is apparently the same injury that sidelined Clayton Kershaw for five weeks at the start of last season. Bedard was in camp on a minor league deal, and it now looks like he will be rehabbing this injury for the first month of the season, and could report to one of the Dodgers' upper minor league affiliates once that rehab process is complete.
Sun Jan 18 201521:15Bedard signed minor league deal with Dodgers on Sunday
Bedard signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers on Sunday, Ken Gurnick of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Bedard spent part of last season with the Rays before being DFA'd and subsequently released in early August. He posted a 4.76 ERA, going 4-6 with 17 appearances (15 starts). The 35-year-old has not had an ERA lower than 4.00 since the 2011 season when he was a member of the Mariners.
Sun Aug 3 201419:50Bedard released by Rays
Bedard has been released by the Rays.
Bedard struggled for the Rays this season, posting a 4.76 ERA and 4.40 FIP over 17 appearances (15 starts). It probably won't be long before he catches on elsewhere, and he may even get another shot to start in the majors this season.
Mon Jul 28 201414:51Rays designate Erik Bedard for assignment
Rays designated LHP Erik Bedard for assignment.
Bedard registered a 4.76 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 15 starts and two relief appearances for Tampa Bay. The 35-year-old southpaw was dumped Monday to open up a roster spot for Joel Peralta, who was activated from the disabled list in a corresponding roster move.

Mon Jul 7 201408:42Erik Bedard moved to the Rays' bullpen
Erik Bedard has been moved to the bullpen.
This clears a rotation spot for Jeremy Hellickson, who is finally recovered from elbow surgery and will make his 2014 major league debut on Tuesday. Bedard allowed six runs over two innings last week versus the Tigers, watching his ERA and WHIP climb to 4.82 and 1.49, respectively.

Thu Jul 3 201422:05Bedard decimated by Tigers' powerful lineup
Erik Bedard was torched by the Tigers en route to his sixth loss, allowing six runs in two innings on Thursday.
Bedard allowed three home runs in the first inning. Manager Joe Maddon chose to go to Cesar Ramos to start the third inning, making this Bedard's shortest outing of the season. Overall, he allowed eight hits, walked two, and didn't record a strikeout. The 35-year-old has looked strong at times, but 2014 has mostly been forgettable. Bedard will carry a 4.82 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP, and a 64/29 K/BB ratio into next week's home start against the Royals.

Sun Jun 22 201417:01Bedard fans eight, allows two runs vs. Astros
Erik Bedard struck out eight over 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs in a no-decision against the Astros on Sunday.
Bedard gave up seven hits and a walk, and he exited before the Rays came back to win. As long as he continues to fall short of qualifying for quality starts, any fantasy value he might have is diminished. The southpaw will take a 4.25 ERA and 1.46 WHIP into a matchup with the Orioles next weekend.

Tue Jun 17 201423:56Bedard burned by grand slam in loss to O's
Erik Bedard allowed five runs, four coming on a grand slam, over four innings in a loss to the Orioles on Tuesday.
Three of Bedard's four hits allowed and all five of the runs came in a third inning that featured a wild pitch, a hit-by-pitch and a grand slam courtesy of Chris Davis. And, in true Bedard fashion, his pitch efficiency left something to be desired, as he needed 92 pitches to get through his four innings of work. The loss dropped him to 3-5 with a 4.33 ERA, and he'll next face the Astros on Sunday.

Wed Jun 11 201422:50Bedard struggles, lasts only 4 innings vs STL
Erik Bedard took the no-decision, allowing three runs over four innings in Wednesday's win over the Cardinals.
Bedard certainly hasn't been an innings-eater for the Rays. Wednesday's outing was the fifth time he failed to go five innings in 11 starts. The lefty allowed eight hits, walked one, and struck out four in the effort. Still, he has a 3.83 WHIP despite a 1.46 WHIP and a 46/24 K/BB ratio in 56 innings. Bedard will face the Orioles at home in his next outing.

Fri Jun 6 201423:40Bedard helps Rays snap 10-game losing streak
Erik Bedard spun six scoreless innings Friday in a 4-0 win over the Mariners to help the Rays snap their 10-game losing streak.
Bedard had been knocked around for 11 runs (10 earned) over his last two starts, but he bounced back Friday with arguably his best outing of the season. The veteran southpaw gave up four hits (three singles) and one walk while notching a season-high eight strikeouts. With a 3.61 ERA across 10 starts and one relief appearances, Bedard has been a pleasant surprise for the Rays. He'll get the Cardinals next week.

Fri May 30 201418:47Erik Bedard will pitch for Rays on Sunday
Erik Bedard will have his next start moved up a day, as he will start against the Red Sox on Sunday.
It's being done to give Alex Cobb, who will now pitch on Monday, an extra day of rest. Bedard was shelled earlier in the week in a losing effort against the Blue Jays. He remains a dicey proposition for fantasy purposes.

Mon May 26 201423:38Erik Bedard gives up eight runs in loss
Erik Bedard was pummeled for eight runs and 13 hits in four-plus innings by the Blue Jays on Monday.
Bedard had allowed a total of three earned runs (seven total) in his previous five starts, despite a pretty tough schedule (he faced the Red Sox, Yankees, Indians, Angels and A's in those games). He was in over his head with a 2.63 ERA for the season -- he's at 4.10 after this one -- but he is throwing better than we would have imagined after seeing him in spring training. He'll get Red Sox again next time out.

Wed May 21 201423:19Bedard solid but picks up second loss vs. A's
Erik Bedard picked up his second loss, allowing three runs (one earned) in 5 1/3 innings against the Athletics on Wednesday.
Bedard only allowed one hit, a solo home run to Brandon Moss in the fourth inning. He walked three and struck out six. The Rays weren't able to generate much offense and the A's capitalized on some defensive miscues, giving Bedard a tough-luck loss. Though he hasn't gone past the sixth inning, Bedard has strung together five consecutive high-quality outings and will go for a sixth on the road against the Blue Jays in his next start.

Fri May 16 201402:04Bedard allows 0 ER in 5 2/3 frames vs. Angels
Erik Bedard surrendered two unearned runs over 5 2/3 innings, allowing four hits, Thursday in a no-decision against the Angels.
He struck out five and walked one. This was an impressive showing from a pitcher who wasn't 100-percent. Bedard, with Enny Romero having been on standby as recently as yesterday, took the mound with soreness in his left pec. The veteran has yielded just four earned runs total over his last four starts. He sports a spectacular 2.78 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 32 2/3 innings. Bedard welcomes Oakland to Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Wed May 14 201409:51Bedard will start in spite of sore pec
Erik Bedard is nursing some soreness in his left pec but will start on Thursday against the Angels as scheduled.
Bedard went through a brief throwing session Monday and didn't have any issues, clearing him for the start. The Rays had Enny Romero on standby but have sent him back to Triple-A Durham.

Sat May 10 201422:18Erik Bedard goes six scoreless to beat Tribe
Erik Bedard tossed six scoreless innings Saturday to help the Rays beat the Indians 7-1.
Bedard was outstanding, yielding just one hit -- a Ryan Raburn double -- and three walks over his six shutout frames. He's been good now in three straight starts for Tampa Bay and is suddenly looking like an attractive streaming option in mixed fantasy leagues. The veteran southpaw will bring a 2-1 record and 3.38 ERA into his next start on the road in Anaheim.

Sun May 4 201416:26Bedard finds success again in win over Yanks
Erik Bedard had a second consecutive good outing Sunday, holding the Yankees to one run on six hits over six innings in a win.
Bedard turned in his best outing as a starter his last time out, keeping the Red Sox to one run over five innings in a no-decision. He followed that up by allowing just six hits and a walk while striking out three Sunday. The left-hander picked up his first win for his efforts, lowering his ERA to 4.35 in the process. He'll try to carry his success over to Saturday's start against the Indians.
