Pauley signed a minor league deal with the Mariners last month after electing free agency from the Blue Jays. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 6.48 ERA in 10 appearances in the big leagues this year. His 2012 season is over.

Mariners signed RHP David Pauley to a minor league contract.
Pauley elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Blue Jays earlier this month. The 28-year-old right-hander had a 3.35 ERA in 58 relief appearances with Seattle prior to being traded to the Tigers last July, so it's not a bad spot to go to get his career back on track. He'll serve as relief depth with Triple-A Tacoma for now.

He'll latch on with another organization on a minor league deal.

Pauley excelled for the Mariners out of the pen last season, but he had a 5.95 ERA in 19 2/3 innings for Detroit after being included in the Doug Fister trade. While he's been penciled onto this year's team, it'd be no surprise to see him end up on the waiver wire before the spring or April is out.

David Pauley pitched two scoreless innings out of the pen to earn his second win as the Mariners topped the Yankees 4-3 on Friday.
If the AL All-Star team carries a non-closing reliever, Pauley has an argument to be the choice. He has a sparking 0.89 ERA while working 30 1/3 innings in the Mariners' first 50 games. He has three wins, and he hasn't blown a lead in any of his appearances.
