Sun Mar 24 201312:29Chad Cordero reassigned to minors
Angels reassigned RHP Chad Cordero to minor league camp.
Cordero has been sitting in the low-90s this spring, which is encouraging. He also put up a 19.06 ERA and 3.00 WHIP over seven Cactus League appearances, which is not encouraging. The 30-year-old right-hander is attempting a comeback after nearly two years away from the game due to shoulder woes. He'll report to Triple-A Salt Lake to start the season.

Mon Mar 4 201318:46Cordero knocked around in loss to Athletics
Chad Cordero was knocked around for six runs over two-thirds of an inning in Monday's loss to the Athletics.
Ouch. Cordero allowed five hits and hit a batter in the nightmare outing. The 30-year-old right-hander is attempting a comeback this spring after nearly two years away from the game, so he can't afford too many clunkers.

Chad Cordero hit 91 mph with his fastball Monday in his Cactus League debut with the Angels.
Cordero surrendered a home run to light-hitting shortstop Brendan Ryan, but he retired the other three Mariners hitters he faced. The right-hander hasn't appeared in the major leagues since 2010, primarily because of shoulder problems. He is likely to open the season at Triple-A.

Wed Feb 13 201320:12Chad Cordero signs with Angels
Angels signed RHP Chad Cordero to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Cordero didn't pitch at all in 2012 and hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010, mostly due to shoulder issues. The former Nationals closer is obviously a longshot to crack the Opening Day roster.

Chad Cordero is hoping to make a comeback next year.
The 30-year-old right-hander had a 2.89 ERA and 128 saves over parts of seven seasons in the major leagues between the Expos, Nationals and Mariners, but has spent the past four years battling shoulder problems. He led the National League with 47 saves in 2005, when he made his lone All-Star appearance. Cordero announced his retirement after he was released by the Blue Jays last season, but he's since reconsidered.

Mon Jan 3 201118:46Blue Jays sign Cordero to minors deal
Blue Jays signed RHP Chad Cordero to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to major league spring training. Cordero, who turns 29 in March, only made nine appearances in the major leagues last season as a member of the Mariners, but averaged 2.3 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 over 35 2/3 innings at the Triple-A level. This is the very definition of low risk.
Mon Jan 3 201117:30Report: Blue Jays sign Chad Cordero
According to Reynolds Sports, the Blue Jays have signed reliever Chad Cordero.
Cordero is represented by Reynolds Sports, so we're only awaiting an official announcement from the team. It's likely he received a minor league deal with a spring training invite. The former All-Star returned from labrum surgery and posted a 6.52 ERA over nine appearances with the Mariners in 2010. Despite his lack of success in limited opportunities in the big leagues last season, he did average 2.3 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 in the minors, so it's worth taking a chance on a rebound.

Thu Jul 22 201014:36Mets sign Cordero to minors deal
Mets signed RHP Chad Cordero to a minor league contract.
Adding Cordero would have made plenty of sense for the Mets three years ago, but he's likely to be nothing more than organizational filler at this point. The 28-year-old right-hander compiled a 6.52 ERA over nine appearances with Seattle before refusing a minor league assignment last week.
Wed Jul 21 201009:16Mets sign Cordero to minors contract
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Mets signed right-hander Chad Cordero to a minor league contract.
Rosenthal writes that the deal will be completed today. Cordero opted for free agency after being refusing a minor league assignment with the Mariners last week. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 6.52 ERA in nine appearances with Seattle. The deal reunites him with his former GM Omar Minaya, but Cordero is unlikely to be a difference-maker.

Thu Jul 15 201014:52Cordero declares free agency
Chad Cordero has refused a minor league assignment and opted for free agency.
The M's cleared him off the 25-man roster in order to make room for left-hander Chris Seddon and right-hander Jamey Wright. Cordero, 28, posted a lousy 6.52 ERA over nine relief appearances after being promoted from Triple-A Tacoma last month. Some team will surely give him another shot, but we're not sure he has much left.
Thu Jun 3 201019:13M's add Cordero in place of Griffey Jr.
Mariners purchased the contract of RHP Chad Cordero from Triple-A Tacoma.
Cordero, a former closer for the Nationals, will take the roster spot made vacant by Ken Griffey Jr.'s retirement. He posted a 4.12 ERA and a 22/4 K/BB ratio in 17 appearances for Triple-A Tacoma this season and allowed only one earned in his last six appearances with the minor league club.
Fri Apr 16 201014:45Mariners' Cordero earns save in Triple-A
Chad Cordero, who last pitched in the majors in April 2008, retired four batters to earn a save Thursday for Triple-A Tacoma.
Cordero's stuff isn't all of the way back, but he's off to a terrific start. In 5 1/3 innings, he's allowed one hit, walked none and struck out five for Tacoma.
