Mon Oct 12 201517:48Jamaal Charles: ACL tear confirmed
An MRI has reportedly confirmed that Charles tore his ACL on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
With Charles thus on track to miss the rest of the season, Charcandrick West and Knile Davis are next up for the Chiefs' backfield duties. With that in mind, coach Andy Reid relayed via the Kansas City Star that the duo would continue to split time, though it's worth noting that on Sunday, West finished the day with 31 yards on seven carries, while Davis carried the ball just twice for two yards. "I'm not saying who is or is not the feature guy, but we need both of them," Reid stated Sunday, with reference to turning to a West/Davis backfield combo. "Both their games are different. We'll just see how that goes." While the situation plays out, both West and Davis slot in as high-priority targets in leagues where they remain available, with West perhaps the higher percentage play, based on Week 5's box score, but not necessarily a lock to dominate the team's carries moving forward, given Davis' previous experience filling in for Charles.
Sun Oct 11 201517:30Jamaal Charles: Preliminary reports suggest torn ACL
ESPN's Adam Teicher relays that coach Andy Reid confirmed after Sunday's loss to the Bears that the preliminary report he received indicates that Charles suffered a torn ACL in the contest.
We'll await further confirmation of the severity of Charles' knee injury, as will the Chiefs, but at this stage, things don't look very good with regard to the running back's playing status for the rest of the season. If an ACL tear is confirmed, the team's backfield duties would be in line to be handled by some combo of Charcandrick West and Knile Davis, making both backs worthy of targeting for pickups while this situation shakes out. This Sunday at least, West was next in line for the team's carries, finishing the game with seven rushes for 31 yards. Meanwhile, Davis, who has filled in for Charles in the past, carried just twice for two yards.
Sun Oct 11 201515:47Jamaal Charles: Possible ACL tear
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport relays that based on initial tests, there are fears that Charles suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's game against the Bears.
Charles has an MRI on tap, but things don't look good for him at this point. Next up for the Chiefs' carries in the event that Charles' injury is indeed long-term in nature are Charcandrick West and Knile Davis, with West having been the back the team turned to initially Sunday after Charles was injured.
Sun Oct 11 201515:07Jamaal Charles: Exits Sunday's game
Charles was forced out of Sunday's game against the Bears with a knee injury. He will not return to the contest.
Charles was unable to put pressure on his right leg as he left the field Sunday, so at first glance it looks like the Chiefs' star running back could miss some time. Look for the Chiefs to update Charles' status after the game, though for now, the team's backfield is in the hands of Charcandrick West and Knile Davis.

Charles gained 75 yards on 11 rushes and caught all six of his targets for another 70 yards in Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Despite averaging nearly seven yards per carry, Charles was used primarily as a receiving threat when the Chiefs got down early. His playmaking ability still allowed him to pile up 145 total yards, and PPR owners will gladly take the season-high totals in the receiving department. Charles' usage affords him one of the highest floors among fantasy running backs, and he will line up against the middling Bears defense at home in Week 5.

Charles rushed 11 times for 49 yards and three touchdowns in Monday night's game against the Packers and also caught five passes (on seven targets) for 33 yards.
Charles' first career three touchdown game came thanks to a trio of rushing scores from inside the 10 yard line, including two fourth quarter plunges. While Monday's early score line forced the Chiefs in more passes than usual, Charles remain heavily involved in their moves down the field, even if his 82 all-purpose yards marked his lowest single-game total of the campaign thus far. No matter, after some costly turnovers in Week 2, Charles put together an excellent Week 3 showing and will look to keep the ball rolling as Kansas City prepares to travel to Cincinnati in their next game.

Charles ran for 125 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in Thursday's 31-24 loss to the Broncos, but he also lost a pair of fumbles, including one that was returned for the game-winning touchdown with 27 seconds remaining.
Charles lost a fumble inside of the Denver 10-yard line on Kansas City's first drive, but he then bounced with a 34-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter. He drew the target on five of Alex Smith's 25 pass attempts, finishing with four receptions for just two yards. Knile Davis vultured the go-ahead touchdown, after Charles touched the ball on four of the previous five plays. The Broncos then tied things up in the final minute, leaving the Chiefs with 36 seconds and one timeout. The Chiefs called a draw play on first down, and Broncos LB Brandon Marshall punched the ball out of Charles' hands, with CB Bradley Roby then returning it for a touchdown. Despite the costly miscues, Charles did well to average nearly six yards per carry against an excellent defense, and he out-touched Davis 25-3. The Packers will face a well-rested Charles at Lambeau Field on Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Charles picked up 57 yards on 16 carries, and added 46 yards and a touchdown on five receptions in Sunday's win over the Texans.
Charles turned in a solid all-around performance, as he used his proficiency as a receiver to make up for a lackluster game on the ground. The 28-year-old's ability to contribute in a multitude of ways every week makes him as good a fantasy option as any player in the league. Owners can expect Charles to consistently reach the triple digits in total yards as long as he stays healthy.

Charles carried the ball three times for 26 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Titans, adding two receptions for 15 yards.
Charles saw just 13 snaps total in the game, but received five touches in his limited time. Still, that's the most he's played this preseason, and it seems unlikely he'll see any more action before Week 1. In his limited playing time, Charles continues to show why he's one of the top fantasy running back options.

Charles saw the field for just eight snaps in Friday's preseason game against the Seahawks, catching three passes for seven yards.
Charles didn't carry the ball at any point, but given his spot atop the depth chart, it's not a huge surprise. The third game of the preseason usually sees most of the starters, but given the recent injuries around the league, it wouldn't be surprising if the Chiefs continue to be cautious with their star back throughout the preseason.
Sun Aug 16 201502:32Charles didn't take snap in Saturday's preseason win at Arizona
Charles didn't take a snap in Saturday's preseason win at Arizona.
Instead, Knile Davis received the initial snaps out of the backfield, but a knee sprain eventually forced him from the game. If Davis' injury is accompanied by a stay on the sidelines, Charles likely wouldn't be forced into action. Rather, the remaining backs, namely Charcandrick West (six carries for 49 yards and three catches for 43 yards Saturday) and Darren Reaves (12 rushes for 41 yards and a touchdown), would likely pick up the slack in the last three preseason games.

Charles has trained this offseason with a pan to avoid some of the injuries that plagued his 2014 season, and his body feels healed up, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports. "My body has healed up, rested up," Charles said.
Charles suffered through a plethora of injuries in 2014 including ankle, foot, back, shoulder, knee and hamstring issues. Despite the problems, he finished the campaign with a respectable 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games. Injuries are always tough to predict, and the relatively slight frame (5-11, 199 pounds) of Charles tends to lead to problems when taking the constant pounding associated with the running back position. However, if he can avoid or limit the injury issues in 2015, there's no reason to believe he can't top his numbers from last season.

Charles (hamstring, ankle) had 13 carries for 54 rushing yards and two catches on three targets for eight receiving yards during Sunday's win over the Chargers.
Charles eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the fifth time in the last six seasons, with his one sub-1,000 season coming in 2011 when he played in only two games before suffering a torn ACL. He broke the 100-rushing yard mark just once this season, and his output in the passing game was well down from last season, catching just 40 passes for 291 yards and five touchdowns. Charles is signed through the 2017 season, so he should be fully expected to be the lead back next season, though he's had a high number of touches over the last few seasons and he just turned 28.

Charles (hamstring/ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Charles has been banged up for a while now, but he should get plenty of work in this game against Kansas City's division rival with the final wild card spot on the line.

Charles (hamstring/ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, the Chiefs' official site reports.
Though we'd expect Charles -- who practiced in a limited fashion all week -- to be available Sunday, the questionable designation suggests that the running back's status should be verified in advance of the Chiefs' 1:00 ET kickoff on Sunday.
Thu Dec 25 201418:35Charles (hamstring/ankle) limited at practice again Thursday
Charles (hamstring/ankle) was limited at practice again Thursday, BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' official site reports.
More on Charles' status Friday, but so far there is nothing to suggest that his status for Sunday's game against the Chargers is in any danger.
Wed Dec 24 201418:39Charles (hamstring/ankle) limited at practice Wednesday
Charles (hamstring/ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday, the Kansas City Star reports.
Charles was limited at practice last Wednesday as well, before returning to a full practice Thursday, and with no reported setbacks in Week 16, we'd expect Charles to draw a probable designation in advance of Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Charles (ankle) rushed nine times for 29 yards Sunday against the Steelers, adding five catches for 48 yards. He also lost a fumble in the game.
Charles didn't get many opportunities to tote the ball Sunday, and didn't find much success when he did touch the ball. While he once again out touched his nearest competitor in the backfield (Knile Davis) nine to two, the running game as a whole proved ineffective and the Chiefs spent much of the second half in catch-up mode. He will face a little easier matchup in Week 17 against the Chargers, who allow 125 yards per game on the ground and gave up 355 rushing yards to the 49ers on Saturday.
Sun Dec 21 201411:42Charles (knee, ankle) active for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh
Charles (knee, ankle) is active for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh.
Charles is definitely banged up, but that's not uncommon at this stage in the season. Expect him to go full speed ahead as usual in this important game.
Fri Dec 19 201417:00Charles (knee
Charles (knee, ankle) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, the Chiefs' official site reports.
After the running back turned in full practices both Thursday and Friday, there's little doubt that Charles will be available for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.
