Mon Apr 18 201119:13Jason Williams to retire from basketball
Jason Williams will officially retire from the NBA, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
He will be remembered for his days in Sacramento, his brash playing style, and one particularly colorful blowup with the media. In his glory years, he was a roller coaster with the basketball, and if you're longing for some of those moments we've linked a highlight reel of 'white chocolate.'

Thu Apr 7 201110:02Jason Williams done for the season
Jason Williams (back) appears done for the season.
Williams has left the Grizz to get a second opinion on his chronically sore back. At age 35, the signing made no sense in the first place. Williams' days of contributing at the NBA level are over.

Sat Mar 19 201120:07Jason Williams (back) out on Saturday
Jason Williams (back) did not play on Saturday against the Pacers.
Greivis Vasquez has reclaimed the backup PG job since Williams has missed the last five games, but for owners, the effect of his absence is to ensure that Mike Conley plays a full slate.

Grizzlies guard Jason Williams remains in Memphis an MRI revealed no serious problems with his sore lower back.
Williams has a host of chronic ailments and clearly isn't going to help fantasy owners, but at least his back problem isn't severe. He is listed as day-to-day.

Wed Feb 9 201109:31Williams has a player option for next season
Jason Williams' contract with the Grizzlies includes a player option for next season.
The Grizz guaranteed Williams' contract for the rest of the season and he'll be able to come back next year if he wants. For a 35-year-old point guard with questionable skills left, it's a strange deal.

Tue Feb 8 201101:05Jason Williams signs with Grizzlies on Monday
PG Jason Williams signed a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
A favorite of owner Michael Heisley, he is the clubs career-assists record. He will compete with rookie Greivis Vasquez for backup PG minutes.

Wed Feb 2 201123:46Jason Williams agrees to sign with Grizzlies
Veteran PG Jason Williams has agreed to sign with the Grizzlies, according to a report released by Grizzlies beat writer Ronald Tillery on Wednesday.
Owner Michael Heisley has a thing for Williams, having traded for him once in 2001, and also having tried to sign him twice since then unsuccessfully. He will compete for backup PG minutes with Greivis Vasquez, and has very little chance of having fantasy value.

Mon Jan 31 201110:13Jason Williams might pass on Grizzlies
Veteran PG Jason Williams has asked the Grizzlies not to claim him off waivers -- he wants to consider playing for a contender before agreeing to join Memphis.
Understandable, though J-Will was a third-string PG in Orlando behind even Chris Duhon, and it's not clear how much gas he has in his tank (or how his chronically sore foot is feeling). Either way, he won't have fantasy appeal.

Thu Jan 27 201123:23Jason Williams to land in Memphis?
After recently being waived by the Magic, Jason Williams is already talking with the Memphis Grizzlies.
These talks were reportedly taking place even before the O.J. Mayo suspension, but now have accelerated. His fantasy impact backing up Mike Conley would be close to none.

Wed Jan 26 201117:34Magic waive Jason Williams
The Magic waived PG Jason Williams.
It became clear that Williams' future with the team was in question when he decided not to join Orlando on its two-game road trip. Though Williams is a recognizable name, there's no fantasy impact here, as the reserve PG had appeared in only one of the team's last 19 games.

Fri Jan 21 201111:25Jason Williams shoots around on Friday
Jason Williams (feet) went through Orlando's shootaround on Friday.
Williams missed some time to deal with personal issues, and his arthritic feet aren't likely to improve this season, but at least he's mixing it up with his teammates. He is not a part of the Magic rotation.

He hasn't been playing anyway, but we thought we'd pass it along.

Fri Dec 31 201014:45J-Will returns to practice
Jason Williams (arthritic feet) went through all of Friday's practice, though Orlando only played half-court.
J-Will actually said that his right foot is worse than his left foot, which isn't good considering the left was already deemed career-threatening. In any case, the veteran PG is a non-entity for fantasy owners.
Sun Dec 26 201023:11J-Will's bum left foot could end his career
Jason Williams is dealing with an arthritic left foot that could end his career.
"I'm not so sure that I won't be able to play ever again," Williams said. "It's not getting better, and they say it's not going to get any better. I've still got a long life to live, so we're going to see a day at a time. I don't know." J-Will has no fantasy value, but if you're holding him in an extremely deep league, it's probably time to let go.

Sun Dec 26 201013:30Jason Williams (foot) won't travel w/ Magic
Magic PG Jason Williams will not travel with the team to New Jersey and will undergo testing on his left foot.
Williams has an "arthritic" left foot that hasn't gotten better. He's been a non-factor for Orlando this year and his role didn't improve with the trade for Arenas et al.

Sat Dec 25 201014:37Jason Williams out on Saturday
Jason Williams missed Saturday's game with a left foot injury.
With Gilbert Arenas and Jameer Nelson around, you won't even notice J-Will is in street clothes.

Sun Dec 5 201011:37Williams getting run for flu-ridden Magic
With the flu bug going around Orlando, Jason Williams has logged 17 minutes in each of the last two games. On Saturday, he scored nine points - all of which came by way of the trey - and added two assists and two turnovers.
Magic beat writer Brian Schmitz believes that Williams should be Jameer Nelson's primary backup at the point, but notes that head coach Stan Van Gundy clearly prefers Chris Duhon's defense to whatever advantage Williams gives on the offensive end. Van Gundy's opinion is the only one that matters for fantasy owners, so you can safely leave Williams on the free-agent wire.
