Blue Jays signed RHP Chorye Spoone to a minor league contract.
He was evidently cut loose by the Red Sox after posting a 3.51 ERA and 27/34 K/BB ratio over 41 innings between Double- and Triple-A. Spoone has always had a good arm but trouble finding the strike zone. It's unlikely he'll make an impact in Toronto.

Mon Feb 14 201111:27Spoone's shoulder feeling healthy
Orioles prospect right-hander Chorye Spoone is confident that he's fully recovered from shoulder surgery.
Spoone was once one of the O's top pitching prospects, but has had a long road back since undergoing surgery in September of 2008. He appeared in 10 games in 2009 and tossed 132 innings with Double-A Bowie last season, but hasn't felt fully confident in his shoulder until now. "I would say, the way my shoulder is feeling now and the way my offseason throwing program went, some will look at me and say, 'he'll never be the way he was in '07.' But I feel I am back as close as I can get to that and all I can do is get stronger," explained Spoone. "I feel like my stuff will be there this year as good as it ever has been." Spoone showed flashes of his electric stuff with the Baysox last season, but only managed an 88/79 K/BB ratio. Finally healthy, 2011 figures to be a crucial year for the 25-year-old's development.
