Given that the Packers have been very conservative with neck injuries -- they refused to clear Nick Collins or Jermichael Finely in recent years -- it's reasonable to wonder if this latest injury could jeopardize Richardson's career.

The Packers have matched the one-year, $2.55 million offer sheet that Richardson signed with the Raiders last week, ESPN.com reports.

Now that he'll being staying with the Packers, Richardson -- who recorded 25 tackles in 16 games for Green Bay this past season -- slots in as the team's No. 3 safety behind starters Morgan Burnett and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Moreover, Richardson is in line to reprise his key special teams role with the team.
