Wed Aug 28 201318:48Chris Wilcox recovering from thumb surgery
Chris Wilcox had surgery this summer to repair torn ligaments in his right thumb.
The injury occurred while Wilcox was playing for the Celtics in January, but the severity wasn't known at the time. He would like to re-sign with the Celts but that's unlikely given their busy frontcourt and rebuilding process -- it's anyone's guess if he'll land another minimum deal in the NBA.

Sun May 19 201311:45Chris Wilcox open to re-signing w/ Celtics
Chris Wilcox said he'd like to re-sign with the Celtics this summer, but acknowledged that his future is uncertain.
"I had to come into training camp [last season] with really no workouts, just come in and start playing," said Wilcox, who returned from heart surgery. "This summer I can dedicate to working out and just strengthening my overall game." He played 14 minutes per game for Boston in 2012-13, and we doubt his role will expand regardless of which team he signs with.

Mon May 13 201309:14Chris Wilcox would re-sign with Celtics
Chris Wilcox would "love" to re-sign with the Celtics.
The feeling might not be mutual. Wilcox struggled through an injury-plagued season with Boston during his second season with the Celtics, and the team needs a big man capable of staying on the floor behind Kevin Garnett. "If it's meant to be, it'll be," Wilcox said.

Wed Mar 27 201323:35Chris Wilcox starts at center for Celtics
Chris Wilcox started at center and had six points, six rebounds, a steal and a block in 21 minutes against the Cavaliers.
Wilcox is worth keeping an eye on in case he ends up keeping the starting gig for as long as Kevin Garnett is out, but we'd still rather own Brandon Bass.

Wed Mar 27 201318:28Chris Wilcox to get start on Wednesday night
Chris Wilcox will start Wednesday as the Celtics go big against the Cavs.
Wilcox is starting because of the injury to Kevin Garnett, who could miss up to two weeks with "inflammation of the ankle." Wilcox still isn't worth consideration in most formats despite the spot start and it'll be Jeff Green that benefits the most from Garnett's absence.

Sat Mar 23 201310:22Rivers says Wilcox's minutes not guaranteed
Although Chris Wilcox has taken over the Celtics' backup center role, coach Doc Rivers says his minutes aren't guaranteed.
Wilcox had five points and one rebound in 15 minutes Friday night, after which Rivers seemingly threatened Wilcox's reserve role. "We want Chris to play better. That's the guy we want but that doesn't mean that's the guy it's going to be. There's other guys behind him, they want his minutes, too," Rivers said. Wilcox hasn't done anything to distinguish himself this season and doesn't belong on any fantasy team.

Mon Mar 4 201308:51Chris Wilcox hoping to prove his worth to C's
Chris Wilcox, who rejected a trade to the Wizards at the deadline, is hoping to prove his worth to the Celtics.
Wilcox was initially set to be sent to Washington with Leandro Barbosa's contract, but Wilcox rejected the deal because he didn't want to lose his Early Bird Rights. Instead, Jason Collins was sent packing to the Wizards in the Jordan Crawford trade. "I know what I need to do to prepare," he said. "I think now it's just more going out and playing my game."

Mon Feb 25 201309:09Rivers: Chris Wilcox needs to raise his game
Doc Rivers said Chris Wilcox needs to raise his game "in a big way" as the primary backup behind Kevin Garnett.
"Whatever number you want to put more (that he has to do), use it," he said. "But he has to, and I've told him that. It's no secret. We're down on bigs, and he has to play better." "He definitely put a lot on me, and at the end of the day we all have to respond," Wilcox said. "I just go out, play hard and bring energy."

Sat Feb 23 201301:55Chris Wilcox scores season-high 14 points
Chris Wilcox scored a season-high 14 points with eight boards and one block in 22 minutes against the Suns on Friday.
He shot 7-of-9 from the field and had everything working in his favor with Kevin Garnett sitting out, the game getting out of hand and going against a weak Phoenix team. The Celtics are bringing in D.J. White to help and Kevin Garnett should be back on Sunday. Wilcox can remain on all wires.

Chris Wilcox (thumb) will see a doctor on Tuesday to determine his timetable.
Wilcox is being called out indefinitely for now, and while he won't need surgery, he's not expected to return in the near future. Upon first sustaining the injury, he couldn't even palm a basketball, so it's not an ordinary thumb sprain.

Wed Jan 2 201318:28Chris Wilcox won't need right thumb surgery
Chris Wilcox (right thumb) doesn't need surgery but doesn't have a timetable for when he might return to the lineup.
Wilcox was originally slated to miss 3-4 weeks as of Dec. 23, so it'll be at least another two weeks before we get a better idea of his return. However, before getting hurt Wilcox had lost his rotation spot and whatever fantasy value he had before then.
