Watson will retire and take a coaching position with the San Antonio Spurs D-League affiliate, the Austin Toros, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
This ends a solid 13-year career for the 35-year-old. His playing career had definitely wound down at this point, but at his peak he was a good NBA point guard with a mind for the game, which should definitely help him in his coaching career.
Sat May 17 201410:02Earl Watson desires Utah Jazz coaching job
Veteran PG Earl Watson is interested in coaching the Utah Jazz and is hoping to interview for the position, according to CSNNW.com.
Jazz forward Gordon Hayward said that he's "definitely pulling for Earl to get the job," which is a key endorsement as Watson attempts to follow Jason Kidd's example by leaping straight into coaching immediately upon his retirement as a player. If the Jazz pass on him as a coach candidate, Watson remains open to playing another season in the NBA.

Earl Watson (calf) is on the active list for the Blazers on Saturday.
He's been out of the lineup all season with a calf strain, but the Blazers don't really need him. Watson shot just 30.4 percent from the field last year and is unlikely to play in normal circumstances.

Fri Nov 1 201319:46Earl Watson (calf) inactive Friday
Earl Watson will not play against the Nuggets on Friday.
He missed the season opener in Phoenix and has been limited since Oct 4. Watson will back up Damian Lillard and has no fantasy value after a horrible year in Utah last season.

Earl Watson, who missed Wednesday's opener with a calf injury, is listed as questionable for Friday against the Nuggets.
Watson is a back up point guard and doesn't have fantasy value, but could steal a few of Damian Lillard's minutes if he's able to go.

Sun Oct 13 201317:08Earl Watson returns to practice on Sunday
Earl Watson (calf) returned to practice on Sunday.
He's been out for over a week, so his return is a welcomed sight with C.J. McCollum out with a foot issue. Watson still won't have much of a role on a deeper Portland team.

Earl Watson (calf) is not practicing in Thursday.
He has a left calf contusion and will miss seven days at the minimum. Watson should get more minutes with the injury to C.J. McCollum (foot), but he's still not on the radar in almost any league.

Fri Oct 4 201315:36Watson leaves practice with calf contusion
Earl Watson left Friday's practice with a left calf contusion.
Watson will be the team's third point guard as long as Mo Williams is healthy, and we have no reason to believe the injury is serious at this time.

Sat Jul 6 201322:04Earl Watson agrees to deal w/ Trail Blazers
Earl Watson agreed to a deal with the Trail Blazers on Saturday.
Watson has known Blazers GM Neil Olshey since he was 17 years old, which influenced his decision, but it's also an ideal situation -- the elder statesman can play limited minutes in a backup role, while dispensing invaluable advice to Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, Allen Crabbe, Victor Claver, and the rest of the Blazers' young roster.

Tue Jul 2 201315:40Knicks kicking tires on Earl Watson
The Knicks have reportedly "checked in" on free agent PG Earl Watson.
The Knicks are in the market for a backup point guard behind starter Raymond Felton. They've been linked to Will Bynum as well. Watson would only receive the veteran minimum.

Mon Feb 25 201319:53Earl Watson will start over Tinsley vs. BOS
Earl Watson will start at point guard against the Celtics on Monday.
Tinsley's minutes have been on the decline and he logged just 14 minutes against the Clippers on Saturday. Meanwhile, Watson's minutes have held steady and he's played between 22 and 24 minutes in each of his last five games. Watson has made one 3-pointer since January 9, so there's really no need to pick him up in almost any format.

Earl Watson (knee) had four points, five assists and one steal in 22 minutes as he returned from a four-game absence against the Kings.
The veteran backup also picked up five fouls and there's no reason to touch him in standard fantasy leagues -- he's averaging 2.0 points and 4.2 assists in 18 minutes per game this season.

Fri Feb 8 201321:43Earl Watson available to play on Friday
Earl Watson (leg) is available to face the Bulls on Friday.
There are still some questions about whether or not he'll play since the Jazz have a back-to-back with Saturday's game. Alec Burks has been playing well and Watson shouldn't be in any lineups.

Fri Feb 8 201312:41Earl Watson to be a game-time decision Friday
Earl Watson (leg) will be a game-time decision on Friday.
Watson did not play on Wednesday despite being a game-time decision, and with a non-displaced fracture in his leg, we're considering him very questionable on Friday. Even if he's active, we wouldn't be surprised to see Alec Burks' run at point guard continue.

Wed Feb 6 201319:42Earl Watson will dress Wednesday, won't play
Earl Watson (leg) will not play against the Bucks on Wednesday.
He was listed as a game-time decision for the game and he will dress. Watson's non-displaced fracture must not be too bad and he could return in the coming games. Alec Burks has been much better lately and he is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Wed Feb 6 201312:52Earl Watson a game-time call on Wednesday
Earl Watson (leg) has ben upgraded to a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against the Bucks.
Watson has a non-displaced fracture in his right leg, so it's pretty curious that he's a game-time decision on Wednesday. We don't expect him to play, but if he does, he could eat into the value of Alec Burks.
