Rays signed INF James Darnell to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Darnell is a career .297/.394/.502 hitter in the minors, but multiple shoulder surgeries have threatened to wreck his career. He's still just 26, though, so perhaps someone will take a shot on him on waivers.
