Wilhoite recorded a career-high 16 tackles (11 solo) in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Eli Manning completed 41 passes, which created many opportunities for the entire 49ers' defensive roster to rack up the tackles. Wilhoite isn't known for his ability to collect double-digit tackles, so Sunday's output should be considered an outlier as opposed to the what you can expect from him in the future.

Wilhoite recorded a team-high nine tackles (six solo) in Sunday's loss to Green Bay.
Despite starting the 49ers' first three games, Wilhoite only managed to record 11 tackles (10 solo). He decided to show up against the Packers, nabbing nine tackles in the loss. He is still without a sack or an interception, so Wilhoite remains a low-end IDP option.

Wilhoite (leg) made his preseason debut and started alongside NaVorro Bowman against the Broncos on Saturday.
Wilhoite finished with five tackles (four solo) while playing with the first-unit defense. He had missed most of the 49ers' offseason activities with a leg injury, but he has returned quicker than expected to reclaim his starting spot. Despite being a starter, he may see some action in Thursday's preseason finale in order to get his legs back.
Wed Aug 26 201514:06Wilhoite (leg) practicing with first unit Wednesday
Wilhoite (leg) is practicing with the first unit Wednesday, MAtt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports.
While it shouldn't be too surprising that Wilhoite has resumed his role on the first unit, it was a bit odd that the 49ers were so quick to give him that role considering his lack of action this preseason and the strong play of Nick Moody. It will be interesting to see who is lining up alongside NaVorro Bowman this Saturday against Denver, as that player will likely start the season at that position and see a bump in value.
Mon Aug 24 201516:12Wilhoite (leg) will return to practice this week
Wilhoite (leg) will return to practice this week, CSN Bay Area reports.
Wilhoite - who started 16 games for the 49ers last year - has missed the team's first two preseason games. He will return to practice and compete with Nick Moody for the starting inside linebacker spot alongside NaVorro Bowman.

Wilhoite was placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list on Wednesday after the team announced he has a muscle strain in his leg.
Wilhoite was in a good position to start at middle linebacker following Chris Borland's retirement, but he has encountered a setback to start training camp. However, reports state that the strain is minor, so it looks as if it is not something to be overly concerned about for now.

With news of Chris Borland's retirement, Wilhoite is next in line to start at middle linebacker for the 49ers this season.
While Wilhoite is next on the depth chart, there is no guarantee that he will start as the 49ers will likely draft another middle linebacker in the draft. If he were to win the job out of training camp, he still wouldn't be a strong IDP option. Wilhoite recorded 87 tackles and zero sacks despite starting for the majority of the season last year.

Wilhoite recorded nine tackles (eight solo) and picked off his second pass of the season in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.
With injuries to the 49ers' starting linebackers, Wilhoite was asked to start for the entire 2014 season. He finished with 87 tackles (67 solo), no sacks, and a pair of interceptions. His tackle totals were decent, but his IDP performance was otherwise disappointing considering how much playing time he received. Wilhoite will enter free agency in 2015 and could provide linebacker depth for whoever he signs with.

Wilhoite (hip) recorded nine tackles (eight solo) in Saturday's overtime loss to the Chargers.
Wilhoite filled the void left by Chris Borland (ankle) and led the 49ers in tackles for the first time this season. He hasn't produced much from an IDP standpoint while starting all season, but he could be a solid source of tackles against the Cardinals next week.
Sat Dec 20 201419:17Wilhoite (hip) active for Saturday's game against San Diego
Wilhoite (hip) is active for Saturday's game against San Diego.
Despite some underwhelming tackle totals on the year, Wilhoite might have some IDP success since tackle hogs Chris Borland (ankle) and Patrick Willis (toe) are both out.
Fri Dec 19 201422:02Wilhoite (hip) questionable for Sunday's game against San Diego
Wilhoite (hip) is questionable for Sunday's game against San Diego.
The 49ers are already without Chris Borland, Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman at inside linebacker, so they'd be extremely thin at the position if Wilhoite can't suit up. He generally seems like a good bet to play after logging limited practices Thursday and Friday.

Wilhoite collected seven tackles (four solo) picked off his first pass of the season in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Lost in all of the buzz surrounding rookie teammate Chris Borland, Wilhoite continues to put up solid tackle numbers for the 49ers this year. NaVorro Bowman (knee) is returning to practice this week, but there have been reports that he may not suit up this season after tearing his ACL in the NFC Championship game last season. If he were to remain sidelined, then Wilhoite would continue to start alongside Borland and provide a handful of tackles.

Wilhoite recorded seven tackles (all solo) in Sunday's loss to the Broncos.
The seven tackles were a season-high, and Wilhoite now has 33 combined tackles through seven games. Outside of the tackles, Wilhoite hasn't provided much value anywhere else. NaVorro Bowman (knee) is eligible to return, but will still need weeks of recovery before being ready to take the field, so Wilhoite should continue to be a solid source of tackles for the time being.
Mon Sep 22 201402:27Wilhoite led San Francisco with six tackles (five solo) Sunday
Wilhoite led San Francisco with six tackles (five solo) Sunday. He also forced a fumble in the 23-14 loss to the Cardinals.
Wilhoite can not replicate the stats that NaVorro Bowman (knee) normally produces, but he has filled in admirably with 14 tackles and Sunday's forced fumble. He is definitely worth a look in IDP leagues until Bowman returns to the field.

Wilhoite appears to have won the battle for the starting middle linebacker position heading into week 1, CSN Bay Area reports.
This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise as coach Harbaugh had been leaning towards the veteran over rookie Chris Borland. Wilhoite averaged 10 tackles in the two games he started last year, so he could be a cheap source of stops in IDP leagues.

Wilhoite continues to work with the first-team defense during training camp and expects to start alongside Patrick Willis this season, the Sacramento Bee reports.
NaVorro Bowman (leg) is expected to miss a chunk of the 2014 season, opening the door for Wilhoite to get significant playing time. In two starts last season, Wilhoite recorded 20 combined tackles, making him an intriguing IDP option in drafts this year.
Sat May 31 201412:06Wilhoite running with the first team at OTAs
Former UDFA LB Michael Wilhoite played with the first team during OTAs.
Wilhoite seems to be the front-runner to replace the injured NaVorro Bowman, but he will have to hold off rookie LB Chris Borland and second-year LB Nick Moody for the job. No matter who starts, the 49ers will likely use a rotation until Bowman returns. Bowman is expected to start the season on the PUP list but should return by mid-season.

Fri Nov 30 201212:3149ers promote LB Michael Wilhoite
49ers promoted LB Michael Wilhoite from their practice squad.
Undrafted out of Washburn, Wilhoite may get a look on special teams if he makes it up on game days. By using the roster spot on Wilhoite instead of a kicker, it's a sign that David Akers (pelvis) is healthy enough to play on Sunday.
