It's been an interesting journey for Poreda. The former first-round pick hasn't appeared in the majors since 2009 and has been limited to 20 minor league innings over the last two-plus seasons due to Tommy John surgery. He's reportedly throwing hard again, but control has always been his issue.

Mon Apr 26 201014:07Padres prospect Poreda goes two hitless
Double-A San Antonio's Aaron Poreda pitched a pair of hitless innings out of the pen on Sunday.
Poreda was a complete bust after being acquired from the White Sox in the Jake Peavy deal, and he still hasn't completely recovered. The Padres had him working as a starting in Triple-A last year, but after watching him walk 37 in 32 2/3 innings, they send him to the Double-A pen to begin this year. He has a 0.93 ERA at the moment, but he's walked eight in his 9 2/3 innings. He's just a project at this point.
