Padres interim manager Pat Murphy said that Luebke underwent surgery recently to relieve pressure on a nerve in his left elbow and will be sidelined for the next 3-to-4 weeks, the Associated Press reports.
It's yet another setback in the recovery process for Luebke, who has not appeared in the majors since 2012 after requiring two Tommy John procedures. Luebke hadn't even pitched in affiliated ball in the last two years until he began a rehab assignment in June, during which he had made seven one-inning appearances across three affiliates before being shut down again. With Luebke not slated to begin throwing until late August at the earliest, it seems quite likely that we won't see him in a Padres uniform until 2016.

San Diego Padres pitcher Cory Luebke will be sidelined three to four weeks after undergoing surgery to relive pressure in a nerve in his elbow, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Luebke has not appeared in the majors since 2012 while recovering from two Tommy John surgeries, and he could be sidelined for the rest of 2015, as he is not slated to begin a throwing program until August. “They were some pressure or some pain from the nerve being in direct contact with an area that was inflamed,” Padres interim manager Pat Murphy said. “They did a procedure in Arizona to reset where that nerve is and take some pressure off that area.” Luebke had a breakout season in 2011, with a 3.29 ERA and 154 strikeouts in 139.2 innings (17 starts) but made just five starts the following year before landing on the disabled list.

Luebke's MRI on Tuesday revealed a flexor strain, but no ligament damage, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
Brock reports that Luebke will not throw for five days before being reevaluated next week. Luebke, who has undergone two Tommy John surgeries, experienced discomfort in his left elbow during his rehab assignment. While this is undoubtedly a setback, it's nothing that should be considered overly serious at this point.

Luebke (elbow) had his rehab assignment moved up to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Luebke (elbow) threw a perfect inning for High-A Lake Elsinore on Saturday, making his first appearance in a game since April 2012, MLB.com reports.
After losing more than three years to consecutive Tommy John surgeries, Luebke figures to have a lengthy rehab assignment. He's scheduled to pitch another inning for High-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, and he'll eventually try to prove that he deserves a role in the big-league bullpen. Although it's possible he could eventually return to starting, Luebke will likely be used as a reliever for at least this season.

Luebke (elbow) will throw a simulated game at extended spring training Tuesday, MLB.com's Corey Brock reports.
The Padres cleared Luebke to take the next step forward in his rehab from the second Tommy John surgery of his career, after he threw live batting practice at extended spring training with no complications. If he endures no further setbacks with while tossing simulated games in Arizona, he could be given the go-ahead to begin what would likely be a lengthy rehab assignment stretching across several minor-league affiliates.

Luebke (elbow) was placed on the 60-day DL on Friday, the Union-Tribune's Dennis Lin reports.
He is attempting to come back from a second Tommy John surgery, and will now be out until at least late-May/early-June. The last news we had on Luebke was that he was throwing at about 50 percent intensity. Upon his activation from the disabled list, he will probably be transitioned to a relief role.

Luebke threw around 25-30 fastballs at about 50 percent of his normal intensity, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
The plan for Luebke is to continue doing the same for about a month. The south paw reported that it "felt like my old arm again," which is a good sign considering he's coming off his second Tommy John surgery. While many struggle coming back from multiple surgeries, there are also some success stories. Luebke will hope to be the next one, though he remains a ways off from returning.
Mon Mar 16 201515:34Luebke (elbow) will start throwing off flat ground Tuesday
Luebke (elbow) will start throwing off flat ground Tuesday, and could throw bullpen sessions next week, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Luebke is attempting to come back from his second Tommy John surgery, after undergoing the procedure last February. The 30-year-old won't be ready to pitch in the majors by Opening Day, but if he's able to return to the mound in the next couple of weeks then he could stick around at extended spring training. He appears to be progressing well, but at this point Luebke seems likely to miss at least the first few weeks of the regular season.

Luebke (elbow) said Thursday that he will not be ready to pitch in major league games by Opening Day, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Luebke expects to start throwing off a mound in about a month, which wouldn't give him enough time to prepare for games by early April. He would likely stick around at extended spring training, with hopes to make his return at some point after the first few weeks of the season.
Wed Jan 28 201517:28Luebke (elbow) could be ready by start of spring training
Luebke (elbow) could be ready by the start of spring training, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
Luebke underwent Tommy John surgery last February, and while the typical timetable for a return is 12-to-18 months, the news that he's nearing a return wasn't guaranteed given that it was his second career Tommy John surgery. The 30-year-old last pitched in 2012, posting a 2.61 ERA in five appearances.

Luebke (elbow) is now playing catch three times a week from 45 feet out, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
Now more than six months removed from his second career Tommy John surgery, Luebke has started back up with a light throwing program. The lefty still faces several major hurdles on his road to recovery, and while he has the entire offseason to build strength, a return for the start of the 2015 campaign is not guaranteed.

Cory Luebke (elbow) will meet with Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola on February 17, and will likely undergo his second Tommy John surgery the following day.
