Wed Apr 1 201515:48Stewart re-assigned to minor league camp Wednesday
Stewart was re-assigned to minor league camp Wednesday.
Stewart had been having a solid spring, slashing .286/.348/.548 with three homers in 20 games, but will now likely begin the season with Triple-A Syracuse. The 29-year-old could be in line for a promotion to the parent club at some point, but likely won't be much of a fantasy factor regardless.

Stewart is having a solid spring at the plate, slashing .323/.400/.645 in 31 at-bats with three home runs, and should Anthony Rendon's knee injury force him to begin the season on the DL, Stewart could find himself on the 25-man roster.
Stewart would also offer some left-handed balance to a very right-handed lineup, but he's still a long shot to win a roster spot, given that he's not on the 40-man. None of the Nationals' other options at third base (primarily Danny Espinosa and Kevin Frandsen) are showing anything at the plate this spring though, so if he keeps hitting Stewart will remain in the picture.
Tue Dec 23 201412:56Stewart has agreed to minor league contract with Nationals
Stewart has agreed to a minor league contract with the Nationals, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
Stewart has spent a signifiant portion of the past seven years in the majors, but has struggled to stay out of the minor leagues in the past couple of years. Stewarts' major league stats have taken a hit recently, as he hit just .176 in 68 at bats last year. He left the Angles to try to avoid the minors, but it appears that Stewart will have to work his way through triple-A this year to have fantasy value in 2015.
