Mon Jun 18 201222:46Brad Eldred headed to Japan?
Brad Eldred wouldn't confirm whether he'll join the Hiroshima Carp of the Japan's Central League.
Eldred was a healthy scratch from Monday's lineup with Triple-A Toledo and he didn't exactly issue a firm denial of the rumors. "What's going on is probably better for me and my family," said Eldred. "That's obviously the way I'm going to go." Nothing is confirmed yet, but Triple-A Toledo Phil Nevin said "I think we'll know something tomorrow."

Mon Jun 18 201220:36Brad Eldred drawing interest from Japan
Brad Eldred is drawing interest from the Hiroshima Carp of the Japan's Central League.
It's no surprise, as Eldred has mashed at Triple-A Toledo this year to the tune of a .305/.374/.695 batting line with 24 home runs. The 31-year-old is unlikely to get a real shot with the Tigers this season, so it might make sense to earn a bigger paycheck overseas.

Sun May 6 201209:26Brad Eldred outrighted
Tigers sent 1B/DH Brad Eldred outright to Triple-A Toledo.
Eldred was designated for assignment Friday and has cleared waivers. Injuries would likely have to occur for him to get another shot with the big club.

Tigers designated 1B/DH Brad Eldred for assignment.
Eldred was given a short-term shot at the Tigers' DH spot, but he batted just .188/.235/.375 over 16 at-bats. He'll represent depth at Triple-A Toledo, assuming he clears waivers.

Fri Apr 27 201219:05Eldred to be everyday DH
In his pregame press conference on Friday, Jim Leyland stated that Brad Eldred will be his everyday designated hitter, "as long as he's hitting."
Eldred had been putting up some eye-popping numbers at Triple-A, including 13 HR and 35 RBI in just 20 games. He's struggled in his previous chances at the major league level, but looks like he'll be given every opportunity to succeed and add some much needed power to the Tigers lineup.

Fri Apr 27 201209:55Brad Eldred to get shot in DH spot
Tigers purchased the contract of 1B-DH Brad Eldred from Triple-A Toledo.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland indicated that he plans on playing Brad Eldred regularly in the DH slot. "We have the hottest hitter in all of minor league baseball," Leyland said. "I'm going to DH him. How long depends on how he does. He's doing something everyone is talking about. Maybe he can get us going." Eldred was batting .388 with 13 home runs and 35 RBI over 80 at-bats for Triple-A Toledo. He's worth an add in AL-only leagues to see if he can stay hot, but the 31-year-old Eldred has a .204 batting average and 103 strikeouts over 260 at-bats in the majors, so there's no long-term value here. Playing Eldred at DH would put Delmon Young in left field regularly and Andy Dirks on the bench.

Thu Apr 26 201209:26Eldred has 13 homers in 20 games at AAA
Brad Eldred has 13 home runs and 35 RBI in just 20 games this season at Triple-A Toledo.
The Tigers signed Eldred to a minor league contract in January after the Rockies let him walk last summer. He's 31 years old and can't really play anywhere but first base, but the Tigers may consider calling him up anyway if the hot-hitting continues. Eldred is sporting a ridiculous 1.457 OPS.

Tue Jul 27 201017:39Rockies send 1B Eldred to minors
Rockies designated 1B Brad Eldred for assignment.
Eldred batted .250 (6-for-24) with one home run and three RBI after being promoted from the minors earlier this month. It was clear he wasn't going to be used much given the wealth of Jim Tracy's internal options at first base.
Wed Jul 7 201018:17Rockies add Brad Eldred as first base fill-in
Rockies purchased the contract of first baseman Brad Eldred from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Eldred, 30, has put on quite a power display this season on the Triple-A level with 22 home runs and 64 RBI through 71 games. He is expected to see a good share of time at first base while Todd Helton (back, hamstring) is sidelined and is a player worth monitoring in NL-only leagues.
