INF Jordan Pacheco, who hadn't played since May 31 because of right shoulder tendonitis, was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 3 and sent to Triple-A Louisville on a rehab assignment. He has a .157 batting average in 51 at-bats for the Reds this season.

INF Jordan Pacheco's right shoulder isn't sore enough for him to be placed on the disabled list, but he is limited in what he can do, Reds manager Bryan Price said before Saturday's game. "He has certain limitations," Price said. "There are certain circumstances under which we can use him." Pacheco hasn't played since May 31 and was hitless in a season-high 12 consecutive at bats.

Pacheco was DFA'd last weekend after Jake Lamb returned from the disabled list. He'll head to Triple-A for the first time this season after hitting .242 with eight RBI in 29 games for the Diamondbacks.

Pacheco has been designated for assignment, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

With Jake Lamb's activation off the disabled list, Arizona cleared room by designating Pacheco for assignment. Pacheco batted .242 with eight RBI over 66 at-bats this season with Arizona.

Despite not starting Monday's game, Pacheco went 1-for-3 with his second home run after replacing Paul Goldschmidt in a blowout loss to the Nationals.

Pacheco is batting .250/.349/.417 in a part-time role for the D-Backs. Starting catcher Tuffy Gosewisch has been better at the dish of late, which squeezes his opportunities for playing time. Pacheco can be helpful is deep leagues thanks to his position flexibility, but he hasn't hit enough to claim a starting job with the D-Backs or on your roster.

Pacheco went 1-for-4 with two runs and a walk Saturday in a loss to the Padres.

With the signing of Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Pacheco needs to show that he can be productive or risk losing what little playing time he has. He doesn't have a ton of power, but he is showing good patience at the plate this year (12.5 percent walk rate) and has posted a .242/.350/.333 line.

The Diamondbacks are expected to sign Jarrod Saltalamacchia, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic.

While it's not clear whether Saltalamacchia will be signed to a major league or minor league deal, when he reaches the D-Backs it will likely have a negative impact on Pacheco's at-bats. His ability to play other positions may help him retain some value, but his route to playing time is much tougher with fewer at-bats available behind the plate.

Pacheco went 1-for-3 with a run scored and a walk Saturday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Pacheco started for the second time in three games, going 3-for-7 with a home run, a walk, two runs, and three RBI over those two games. He has a .261/.370/.391 line in 27 plate appearances on the season. With starting catcher Tuffy Gosewisch struggling at the plate, Pacheco could be in line for more playing time.

Pacheco hit his first home run of the season while going 2-for-4 Wednesday in a win over the Rockies. He scored a run and drove in three in the contest.

This was just Pacheco's second start in the past week, as Tuffy Gosewisch is catching nearly every day and there is not much room at either corner infield position. Given Gosewisch's struggles (batting .177 on the year), it's possible Pacheco could start to see a bit more playing time, but his value is low until such time.

Pacheco was officially added to the 25-man roster.

Both Gerald Laird and Jordan Pacheco made the 25-man roster, so Arizona will have two backup catchers behind Tuffy Gosewisch.

The Diamondbacks claimed Pacheco off waivers from the Rockies last June, keeping him on the roster for the rest of the season before outrighting him in November. The 28-year-old's contact skills have taken a dive since he batted .309 as a rookie, but his ability to play catcher and the corner infield spots make him a useful player to keep around the organization for depth purposes.

Pacheco has become a minor league free agent, Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports.

He was outrighted by the Diamondbacks last week, and opted to become a free agent. He has little fantasy value at this point as he is unlikely to have a major league role with a team out of camp next season.

Pacheco was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

The 28-year-old batted .272 in 47 games after joining the Diamondbacks in mid-June, but it was an empty number, as he slugged just .321 and drew a mere three walks in 85 plate appearances. Perhaps he'll receive an invite to attend major league spring training, but Pacheco may be hard-pressed to return to the majors with Arizona now that he's off the 40-man roster.

Pacheco went 0-for-1 in a pinch-hit opportunity in the Diamondbacks' 5-0 loss to the Giants on Wednesday.

Pacheco has been limited to pinch hitting in September, with Miguel Montero getting most of the playing time. He batted .163 in August, which didn't help his cause. He's 0-for-3 in his only at-bats in September.

Pacheco went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a double and a run scored in the Diamondbacks' 7-4 win over the Pirates on Thursday.

Pacheco got the start at third base and figures to gain more time in wake of the Martin Prado trade to the Yankees. The game was Pacheco's second in the month of July. It was his first multi-hit game and RBI since being claimed by the Diamondbacks on June 12.

Pacheco is in the lineup at third base Thursday vs. the Diamondbacks. He could be in store for increased playing time at the position.

After playing sparingly since he was claimed by the Diamondbacks on June 12, Pacheco suddenly finds himself atop the depth chart at third base in the wake of Thursday's trade of Martin Prado to the Yankees. As a result, Pacheco figures to garner the bulk of the starts at third base in the near term, but top prospect Jake Lamb could soon be called up from Double-A Mobile in September to get a look at the position.
