Diamondbacks sent C Robby Hammock outright to Triple-A Reno.
Hammock was a September call-up but had just two at-bats in his first appearance in the big leagues since 2008. The D'Backs are prepping him for a possible managerial job, so he's probably taken his last major league at-bat.

He'll function as a third catcher and utility player down the stretch.

Diamondbacks signed C Robby Hammock to a minor league contract.
Hammock, 34 in May, spent all of the 2010 season with the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He spent time with the Diamondbacks from 2003-2008 but won't be a high impact guy in his second tour through the desert. Arizona already has two big league catchers.
