Asiata had two carries for eight yards in Sunday's win over Detroit.
Asiata played four snaps on offense as he'll have a limited third-down role as long as Adrian Peterson is healthy.

Asiata had one carry for four yards and two receptions for 25 yards in Monday's loss at San Francisco.
Asiata got 12 snaps on offense, which was a mild surprise since he was thought to be relegated to a third-string role. It looks like he could get a few plays a game in the backfield when Adrian Peterson gets a break.

Asiata had just three carries for two yards in Saturday's preseason win over Dallas.
Asiata hasn't done much this preseason (9 carries for 30 yards), but he looks set to enter the season as the No. 3 running back. While he showed to be a capable goal-line back last season and can catch the ball out of the backfield, he's unlikely to have much of a role as long as Adrian Peterson is healthy.

Asiata gained 30 yards on six carries and five yards on one reception in Sunday's Hall of Fame Game against the Steelers.
Asiata played the entire second quarter, after Jerick McKinnon got the starting nod and handled Minnesota's only series in the first quarter. Asiata broke off a powerful 18-yard run to help set up the only touchdown of the first half, but he otherwise settled for short gains. Asiata and McKinnon are competing for backup roles behind Adrian Peterson, who may sit out the entire preseason to stay healthy for Week 1. McKinnon is the favorite to spell/replace Peterson on passing downs, but Asiata may have a shot to be the top backup for early-down work.
Mon Mar 9 201520:58Asiata will sign one-year contract with Vikings on Tuesday
Asiata will sign a one-year contract with the Vikings on Tuesday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Asiata's deal includes heavy incentives, which would likely kick in if Adrian Peterson plays elsewhere in 2015. Nevertheless, in a backfield tandem with rookie Jerick McKinnon (back) last season, Asiata took 164 carries for 570 yards (3.48 YPC) and nine touchdowns, while hauling in 44 balls for 312 yards (7.09 YPC) and one more score.

Asiata (foot) had 19 carries for a season-high 91 rushing yards and two catches on four catches for 17 receiving yards during Sunday's win over the Bears.
While his two-game touchdown streak ended, Asiata had his best game of the season, matching his highest yards per carry average since Week 5 against the Packers. With the uncertainty surrounding Adrian Peterson, Asiata could be brought back for another year, though Jerick McKinnon will likely play the biggest role out of the backfield.
Sun Dec 28 201411:35Asiata (foot) active for Sunday's game against Bears
Asiata (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Asiata is never going to be a big yardage guy, but he clearly has a nose for the end zone, and the Vikings should be able to move the ball enough to get him some red-zone opportunities against the crumbling Bears rush defense.
Fri Dec 26 201415:50Asiata (foot) probable for Sunday's game against Chicago
Asiata (foot) is probable for Sunday's game against Chicago.
With three touchdowns in his last two games, Asiata is one of the better on-paper fantasy backs this week against Chicago's bottom-tier run defense. The Bears give up a lot of points, so Asiata has a good chance to see some red-zone carries.
Wed Dec 24 201420:32Matt Asiata: (Foot) Full Practice Wednesday
Asiata (foot) practiced fully Wednesday, the Vikings' official site reports.
While Asiata's raw output isn't impressive -- 200 yards on 60 carries, or 3.3 YPC, in the past four games -- he's reached the end zone three times, while reeling in 17 balls (on 19 targets) for 84 yards during that stretch. His goal-line prowess should again please owners Sunday against a Bears defense that has allowed seven scores on the ground to running backs in the last four weeks.

Asiata (foot) had 16 carries for 58 rushing yards and two touchdowns, as well as three catches on four targets for 19 receiving yards during Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.
Asiata's touchdowns came on a one-yard run in the first quarter and a five-yard run in the fourth, with his longest run from scrimmage gaining 10 yards. The one target he failed to catch ended up bouncing off his hands and getting intercepted, though there aren't any negative fantasy points for that in most formats. He now has 10 touchdowns (nine rushing, one receiving) on the season, an impressive mark for a player that hasn't reached 75 rushing yards in a single game this season. Up next is a Week 17 matchup against a Bears defense that has been better against the run than the pass this season.
Sun Dec 21 201411:33Asiata (foot) active for Sunday's game against Dolphins
Asiata (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
As the lead back in the Minnesota offense (and an increasingly utilized weapon in the passing game), Asiata figures to get a healthy serving of carries Sunday. He mustered 86 total yards and a touchdown against a tough Detroit defense last week and should be able to find some holes against Miami's 22nd-ranked run defense.
Fri Dec 19 201415:52Asiata (foot) probable for Sunday's game against Miami
Asiata (foot) is probable for Sunday's game against Miami.
Asiata's foot injury is not a major issue, as he was able to practice all week. The matchup is a bad one, however, and Asiata isn't an encouraging option outside of perhaps PPR formats.
Wed Dec 17 201420:02Matt Asiata: (Foot) Limited Wednesday
Asiata (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Asiata has headed the Vikings' backfield in each of the past three games, racking up 44 carries for 142 yards and one touchdown, which he's supplemented with 14 receptions (on 15 targets) for 65 yards. Clearly, the presence of Ben Tate and Joe Banyard haven't affected Asiata's standing, but owners should keep an eye on the latter's week of practice to ensure he suits up Sunday at Miami.

Asiata had 11 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown and caught 7-of-7 targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 16-14 loss at Detroit.
Asiata scored a short touchdown in the first quarter, and easily led the Vikings' backfield in touches, as Ben Tate and Joe Banyard combined for seven carries. While Asiata doesn't make a lot of big plays, he's seeing volume, catching passes and more importantly, is often used around the goal line. After taking on a very tough rush defense Sunday, he could see more running lanes next week at Miami.

Asiata had 19 carries for 54 rushing yards and three catches on four targets for 10 receiving yards during Sunday's overtime win over the Jets.
Asiata got the start in place of Jerick McKinnon, who was placed on injured reserve with a back injury earlier this week, and he ceded only four carries to backups Ben Tate (three carries for 15 yards) and Joe Banyard (one carry for nine yards). He is clearly the top running back on the depth chart, though that doesn't figure to be a huge advantage in Week 15, as the Vikings will face off against a Lions defense that is allowing the fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL this season.
Sun Dec 7 201412:03Asiata listed as starting running back for Sunday's game against...
Asiata is listed as the starting running back for Sunday's game against the Jets, according to ESPN.com.
With Jerick McKinnon placed on season-ending injured reserve earlier this week with a back injury, Asiata officially reclaimed his starting spot, though Ben Tate and Joe Banyard each figure to get some touches. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, he'll get the start against a Jets defense allowing the third-fewest rushing yards per game this season.
Fri Dec 5 201418:19the Vikings figure to give snaps to all of Asiata
With Jerick McKinnon (back) out against the Jets on Sunday, the Vikings figure to give snaps to all of Asiata, Joe Banyard and Ben Tate, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Against the Jets' tough run defense, it's hard to get excited about Asiata or any of the other Vikings runners, especially with the uncertain workload factored in. If you're in need of a running back capable of getting touches Sunday, though, Asiata does seem to be the incumbent leader for this committee.

Asiata, starting in place of the injured Jerick McKinnon (back), had 14 carries for 52 rushing yards and four catches on four targets for five receiving yards Sunday against the Panthers.
Asiata suffered a concussion in Week 11 against the Bears and was held out in Week 12 against the Packers, but he led the Vikings' backfield Sunday, ceding five carries to Ben Tate (15 yards) and two to Joe Banyard (eight yards), with the latter two completely absent from the passing game. McKinnon isn't expected to be out for long, so it's possible that Asiata could return to his backup role in Week 14 against the Jets, who are allowing the fourth-fewest rushing yards per game this season.
Sun Nov 30 201411:59Matt Asiata: (Concussion) Starting Sunday
Asiata (concussion) is active and will start Sunday's contest versus the Panthers, Ben Goessling of ESPN.com reports.
After a one-game absence due to a concussion, Asiata rejoins a Vikings backfield without the services of Jerick McKinnon (lower back). In his two-plus years in the league, Asiata has garnered 14 or more carries on four occasions, accruing 79 rushes for 316 yards (4.0 YPC) and six touchdowns. Throwing a wrench in the ride-Asiata campaign are the existence of newcomer Ben Tate and Joe Banyard, but Asiata's knowledge of the offensive scheme will likely work in his favor.
Fri Nov 28 201416:50Asiata (concussion) probable for Sunday's game against Carolina
Asiata (concussion) is probable for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Asiata practiced all week, including full practices Thursday and Friday, so he's ready to go for Sunday. With Jerick McKinnon (back) likely out, the Vikings figure to lean on some uncertain combination of Asiata, Ben Tate and Joe Banyard against the Panthers, though there's not much information regarding how that distribution of work might occur. As the incumbent starter following Adrian Peterson's absence, Asiata definitely has the seniority advantage. Tate is conventionally regarded as the more talented player, but he has very little experience in the Minnesota system after the Vikings claimed him off waivers just Wednesday of last week.
