Wed Mar 12 201416:41Aaron Cook unlikely to pitch this season
According to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish, right-hander Aaron Cook is unlikely to pitch in 2014.
The 35-year-old had been staging a comeback attempt, but the interest from major league teams apparently was not there. Cook hasn't appeared in the bigs since 2012, when he had a 5.65 ERA in 94 innings with Boston.

Sun Jan 19 201410:25Aaron Cook looking to make a comeback
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that Aaron Cook is looking to make a comeback this season.
A tired arm forced Cook to shut things down for the season last year after just eight Triple-A starts. The soon-to-be 35-year-old says he's healthy now, though, and is looking for an opportunity. It will only require a minor league deal, so he shouldn't have trouble catching on somewhere.

Rockies released RHP Aaron Cook.
Cook decided that he no longer wanted to pitch for Triple-A Colorado Springs after posting an 8.15 ERA over eight starts. It's not clear if the 34-year-old is considering retirement or just wanted to take some time off.

Rockies signed RHP Aaron Cook to a minor league contract.
Cook was released by the Phillies on Tuesday after posting a 3.38 ERA and 5/4 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings this spring. The 34-year-old was originally drafted by the Rockies in 1997 and posted a 4.53 ERA over 10 seasons with the club. While it's possible that he'll resurface in the major league rotation soon, he'll serve as minor league depth for the time being.

The Phillies had until Tuesday to add Cook to the 25-man roster or pay a $100,000 retention bonus to send him to the minors. However, they have allowed him to test the free agent market. The 24-year-old had a 5.65 ERA and 20/21 K/BB ratio over 94 innings with the Red Sox last season.

Phillies signed RHP Aaron Cook to a minor league contract with a spring training invite.
FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi was first to report the signing. Cook is coming off a strange season with the Red Sox in which he compiled a 5.65 ERA and averaged just 1.91 K/9. The soon-to-be 34-year-old will provide insurance for the starting rotation and will make $1.625 million if he's on the major league roster.

Sun Jan 13 201308:46Rockies interested in Aaron Cook
The Denver Post's Troy Renck lists Aaron Cook as one of the pitchers the Rockies are interested in signing to a minor league deal.
Renck also mentions Derek Lowe, Chris Volstad and Jeff Karstens. Karstens will almost surely require a guaranteed deal, something the Rockies would prefer not to offer, and Lowe probably would, as well. Volstad and Cook might be available on minor league deals, though. Cook, of course, spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Rockies. He posted a 5.65 ERA over 18 starts for the Red Sox in 2012.

Fri Sep 28 201223:35Aaron Cook obliterated in loss to Orioles
Aaron Cook was obliterated in Friday's loss to the Orioles, allowing six runs on five hits in just one inning of work.
Cook also issued three walks without striking out any batters in the brutal outing. All of the damage came via the long ball, with Chris Davis blasting a two-run shot, and Ryan Flaherty adding on a grand slam. He now owns an unimpressive 4-11 record and 5.65 ERA on the season. His days as a major league starting pitcher appear to be numbered.

Sat Sep 22 201217:25Aaron Cook knocked in no-decision vs. O's
Aaron Cook was knocked around in a no decision against the Orioles on Saturday afternoon, surrendering five runs on nine hits in his 5 1/3 innings of work.
Cook walked two and struck out one in the game. He departed with two men on and one out in the sixth inning, and a Ryan Flaherty two-run triple allowed both to score. He's been very ineffective this season, posting a 4-10 record, 5.13 ERA and 20/18 K/BB ratio over his 93 innings. He'll look for better results when he does battle against the Orioles in Baltimore on Saturday.

Mon Sep 17 201222:27Cook holds down Rays
Aaron Cook on Monday became the latest pitcher to stifle the Rays, holding them to one run over six innings in the 5-2 victory.
Cook predictably notched just one strikeout, but he also walked just one and allowed only five hits, none of which that went for extra bases. It's just the second time in the righty's last 11 starts that the Red Sox have come away victorious. He'll carry a 4.93 ERA and 1.36 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Orioles.

Thu Sep 6 201201:15Aaron Cook erupts for five strikeouts
Aaron Cook held the Mariners to two runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings of Wednesday's loss.
Cook also punched out a season-high five after entering this evening with an unfathomably bad 11 strikeouts through 70 2/3 innings. We're guessing he won't fare quite as well against the Yankees in Boston next Wednesday. Now 3-9 with a 5.17 ERA, Cook will be a free agent at season's end.

Aaron Cook is listed as the starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Royals.
The Dodgers proposed trade for Josh Beckett has yet to be made official, but he obviously won't make his scheduled start. Jose Iglesias and Che Hseun Lin are expected to be recalled once the trade is finalized.

Tue Aug 21 201222:17Aaron Cook hammered in loss to Angels
Aaron Cook was hammered in Tuesday's loss to the Angels, allowing five runs (four earned) on 11 hits over his five innings of work.
Impressively, Cook managed to rack up four strikeouts in the game while walking just one. Albert Pujols got the scoring started with an RBI single in the third inning, then Mark Trumbo blasted a two-run homer in the fifth to finish the damage. Cook now sits 3-7 with a 4.79 ERA and 11/11 K/BB ratio over 62 frames. He'll get the Royals next.

Wed Aug 15 201223:00Aaron Cook falls to 3-6
Aaron Cook allowed five runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings of Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.
Cook hurt his own cause with a sixth-inning throwing error. He notched just one strikeout as he fell to 3-6. The owner of an unfathomable 7/10 K/BB ratio through 57 innings, Cook is extremely lucky to be the owner of a 4.58 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. He'll get the Angels at home on Tuesday.

Mon Aug 6 201223:50Cook out duels Darvish for this win
Aaron Cook gave up one run on six hits over seven innings of work in Monday's 9-2 win over the Rangers.
Cook had been abysmal in his previous two starts, giving up a combined 12 earned runs, but he's at least starting to regain control of his sinker. The 33-year-old right-hander has held his own as a late season fill-in, and should continued to be viewed nothing more than an AL-only option.

Wed Aug 1 201223:41Aaron Cook serves up BP in loss
Aaron Cook served up batting practice in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers, allowing six runs on nine hits and two home runs in 4 2/3 innings of work.
Cook failed to notch a strikeout in falling to 2-5. Cook has now allowed at least five runs in three straight appearances, and has watched his ERA balloon to 5.24. He's not a recommended option in any format. Things could get really ugly on Monday, where Cook will take on the Rangers at home.

Sat Jul 21 201222:32Cook solid in loss to Blue Jays
Aaron Cook turned in another solid performance in Saturday's loss to the Blue Jays, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits over his 6 1/3 innings.
Cook fanned one while walking one on the night. A pair of home runs was his undoing in this one, as Edwin Encarnacion belted a two-run shot in the sixth inning, and J.P. Arencibia added a solo drive in the seventh. He's been a pleasant surprise for the Red Sox to this point in the season, compiling a 2-3 record and 3.50 ERA through his first six starts. He'll attempt to get back in the win column when he takes on the Yankees in New York on Friday.

Sun Jun 24 201217:08Aaron Cook goes five innings in win
Staring in place of an ill Clay Buchholz, Aaron Cook held the Braves to three runs (two earned) on six hits in five innings of Sunday's 9-4 win.
Cook didn't tally a walk or strikeout as he came within an inning of a quality start. Although he should be in line for at least one more start in place of Buchholz, Cook is off the radar in AL-only leagues unless you're absolutely desperate for someone to plug into your rotation.
