CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Juan Rincon has signed with the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League.

Heyman reported last month that Rincon threw for a few teams in Florida, but apparently he didn't draw much interest around MLB. The 35-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010, but will attempt to keep his career alive.

He spent 2013 in the Independent League, where he posted a 3.26 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 43/19 K/BB ratio over 47 innings. He'll undoubtedly have to settle for a minor league deal and spring training invite, but represents a nice low-risk signing.
