Sun Mar 18 201213:42Alberto Castillo released
Dodgers released LHP Alberto Castillo.
Castillo was trying to earn a roster spot on a minor league deal, but he evidently failed to impress enough despite allowing just one earned run in his three appearances. The journeyman should catch on with someone as minor league depth.

Tue Dec 13 201118:28Dodgers ink LHP Castillo to minors deal
Dodgers signed LHP Alberto Castillo to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to spring training. Castillo, 36, posted a 2.31 ERA and 6/7 K/BB ratio over 11 2/3 innings this past season with the Diamondbacks. Left-handed batters have knocked him around pretty good in the big-leagues, so he's probably a longshot to secure a specialist job.

Diamondbacks signed LHP Alberto Castillo to a minor league contract.
Castillo has posted a 2.89 ERA, 8.9 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 across four seasons of Triple-A ball, but he hasn't been terribly impressive when given a shot by the Orioles, who decided to cut him loose. The 34-year-old Cuban defector will try to work his way up with the D'Backs.

Orioles recalled LHP Alberto Castillo from Triple-A Norfolk.

Orioles optioned LHP Alberto Castillo to Triple-A Norfolk.

Sun May 16 201011:59Castillo recalled to bolster bullpen
Orioles recalled LHP Alberto Castillo from Triple-A Norfolk.
Castillo wasn't bad in his previous stint in the majors while Koji Uehara was on the disabled list, so he gets the call as the Orioles try to find a late inning combination that won't leak away wins. After Saturday's late inning fiasco against the Indians, it's hard to blame the O's for looking at new solutions to their late inning problem.
Wed May 5 201017:04O's option Alberto Castillo to Triple-A
Orioles optioned LHP Alberto Castillo to Triple-A Norfolk.
Castillo was recalled only two weeks ago and did a fine job during his time in the bigs, but he was one of the few Baltimore relievers with minor league options remaining. The move cleared a spot on the 25-man roster for Koji Uehara, who will return to the O's on Thursday.
Tue Apr 20 201023:54Orioles recall LHP Castillo from Triple-A
Orioles recalled LHP Alberto Castillo from Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles won't need a fifth starter until May 1, so it made plenty of sense to add another arm to the bullpen. Castillo, 34, allowed three runs over 12 innings (2.50 ERA) in two brief stints with the Orioles last season. The Cuban southpaw had a 5.79 ERA over five relief appearances with Triple-A Norfolk so far this season.
