Krauss was released by the Tigers to make 40-man roster room for Randy Wolf, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
The Tigers recently promoted first base prospect Dean Green to Triple-A Toledo, so it was very likely Krauss had lost his spot on the depth chart as a backup first baseman and was therefore expendable. Krauss is a career .188/.255/.242 hitter in the majors and is leaving his fourth team in two years, so it's hard to see any club offering him anything beyond a minor league contract to fill out their Triple-A roster.
Sun Jul 26 201514:44Krauss optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday
Krauss was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
Krauss was claimed off waivers from the Rays earlier in the month and underperformed even against replacement-level expectations, hitting an anemic .152/.152/.242 in 12 games with Detroit. He could see the majors again if the Tigers need first base or corner outfield depth, but he likely will won't seen as a real option for playing time.
Sat Jul 25 201512:42Krauss out of lineup Saturday against Red Sox
Krauss is out of the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.
Krauss went 0-for-4 on Friday against Rick Porcello and the Red Sox, and he'll take a seat Saturday with Alex Avila taking over first base duties. He had started three of the last four games at first base for the Tigers, going 2-for-10 in that stretch.

Krauss was formally activated from the paternity list prior to Sunday's game against the Orioles, MLive.com's Chris Iott reports.
Krauss will immediately enter the lineup for the Tigers upon his return, slotting in at first base and and batting second after missing the team's first two games out of the break. With Miguel Cabrera (calf) likely unavailable until August, Krauss could get a sustained trial as a lineup regular, but the early returns aren't encouraging. The 27-year-old is off to a 2-for-18 start to his Tigers career.

Krauss will be placed on the paternity leave list prior to Friday's game, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
The Tigers are set to promote Dixon Machado to the major league roster once they officially place Krauss on the paternity leave list. As a result, Krauss will miss between one and three games before he can be activated. Krauss has gone just 2-for-18 since joining the Tigers on July 6.
Thu Jul 9 201517:10Krauss will get start at first base Thursday against Twins
Krauss will get the start at first base Thursday against the Twins, MLive.com reports.
Krauss was claimed off waivers Monday, and he could be set to see a few starts in the short-term, as the Twins are slated to start all right-handers during the teams' four-game set, which kicks off Thursday night. Krauss hit a home run and finished 1-for-4 in his debut with the Tigers on Tuesday.

Krauss will start at first base and bat seventh Tuesday against the Mariners.
He will face off against right-hander Taijuan Walker in his Tigers debut, after coming over from the Rays on a waiver claim Monday. Krauss went just 6-for-45 in 15 games between Anaheim and Tampa Bay to start the year, but he's fared well at Triple-A and it looks like he may be afforded regular starts against right-handed pitching while Miguel Cabrera (calf) is on the shelf.

Krauss was claimed by the Tigers on Monday after being designated for assignment by the Rays, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
With the injury to Miguel Cabrera, the Tigers were in need of a first baseman and Krauss fits the bill. Though he's struggled this season, hitting for a .133/.188/.267 slash line in 45 at-bats, the former second round pick in 2009 was hitting extremely well for Triple-A Salt Lake earlier this season, holding a .868 OPS. The team has yet to announce who is being sent down to clear room for the first baseman.
Sat Jul 4 201510:00The Rays designated Krauss for assignment Saturday
The Rays designated Krauss for assignment Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Krauss was removed from the 40-man roster to open a spot for pitcher Everett Teaford. Krauss' next step is uncertain, but he was optioned to Triple-A Durham earlier in the week, and will remain there if he clears waivers and decides to stick with the Rays.
Wed Jul 1 201522:08Krauss optioned Wednesday
Krauss was optioned Wednesday, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
Krauss's moved down opened up the room for Matt Moore to be reinstated. He has just one hit in at bats with the Rays this season, while appearing in three games.

Krauss will bat eighth and start at first base Friday against the Red Sox, 620 WDAE's Steve Carney reports.
Acquired in a trade with the Angels on Thursday, Krauss will likely platoon with Jake Elmore at first base until James Loney (finger) returns. Loney is expected back at some point in July, possibly before the All-Star break.

Krauss was traded to the Rays on Thursday for minor league pitcher Kyle Winkler, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
The 27-year-old went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment by the Angels late last month, but Krauss caught the Rays' attention by batting .290/.423/.435 with Triple-A Salt Lake in June. It seems Tampa has major league plans for Krauss, as Nick Franklin was optioned and Krauss will reportedly be added in his place, though it remains to be seen what kind of role he'll take on.

Krauss cleared waivers Sunday and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Krauss was designated for assignment Thursday, but no team wanted to grab him off waivers, so he'll return to Triple-A. He was called up by the Angels in mid-May, but Krauss failed to capitalize on his cup of joe. Through 35 at-bats, he hit .143, collecting five hits, one home run, and five RBI in the 11 games in which he saw the field.
Thu May 28 201518:12Krauss designated for assignment Thursday
Krauss was designated for assignment Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Krauss received regular starts against right-handed pitchers over the past few weeks, but he struggled to the tune of a .143/.211/.286 slash line in 35 at-bats. The playing time he was getting will likely go to some combination of Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Alfredo Marte and Grant Green.
Thu May 28 201517:51Krauss out of lineup for Thursday's game against Tigers
Krauss is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Erik Kay of the Angels' official website reports.
Krauss has been in the lineup more often than not since his May 12 recall, but with the results unimpressive, he's starting to lose at-bats. This marks his second consecutive absence from the lineup, even though the Angels are facing another right-hander.
Wed May 27 201517:41Krauss not in lineup Wednesday against Padres
Krauss is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres.
Krauss will sit for the fifth time since his May 12 recall to the major league club as Chris Iannetta serves as the DH against right-hander Andrew Cashner. While Krauss is just 5-for-35 with the Angels thus far, he may continue to see semi-regular starts with C.J. Cron sent down, though the addition of Kirk Nieuwenhuis complicates things.
Tue May 26 201512:40Krauss 2-3 with double and walk in Monday's win over Padres
Krauss went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk in Monday's win over the Padres.
Krauss' line still sits at a paltry .156/.206/.313 over 34 plate appearances, but it appears the Angels are nonetheless willing to roll with him as their primary DH for now. C.J. Cron was sent back to Triple-A Salt Lake after Monday's game, leaving Krauss with no obvious roadblocks to everyday at-bats.
Sun May 24 201513:13Krauss out of lineup Sunday against Red Sox
Krauss is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez reports.
After Krauss went 0-for-9 in the first two games of the series, manager Mike Scioscia will turn to C.J. Cron on Sunday with the hope of generating some production from his DH spot. Krauss was thought to be a solution to the Angels' woes at DH after he posted a .405 on-base percentage in 28 games at Triple-A Salt Lake, but he's notched only three hits in 29 at-bats since his promotion.
