Young has seen a slight dip in his playing time, but he still draws the start the most of the time against lefties, as he's sporting a .327/.395/.960 line against southpaws. He'll likely continue to serve this platoon role in the final week of the regular season and in the playoffs, however far the Yankees advance.

The 31-year-old is hitting just .185/.242/.342 against righties, but has been in the lineup every game this season with a left-handed pitcher getting the start, as he's hitting an impressive .339/.398/.635 against southpaws. Going forward, Young likely won't see too many at bats against righties, but he could be a decent option in daily leagues when the Yankees draw a lefty opponent.

Young had a monster night as he reached base four out of the five times that he stepped to the plate. He scored four of the Yankees' 13 runs and hit an absolute laser over the left field fence in the seventh inning. The home run gives Young 13 on the season and a night like this should only lead to more opportunities moving forward.

He continues to be dangerous against left-handed pitching, as Young owns a .371/.426/.711 slash line against them this season and figures to be in the lineup against all southpaws.

Young will start in left field and bat second Monday against the Rangers, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

With the southpaw Matt Harrison on the mound for the Rangers, Young gets the start in left field. This season against lefties, Young is hitting for a .374/.430/.692 slash line. He replaces Jacoby Ellsbury in the starting lineup.

With Carlos Beltran (oblique) returning from the disabled list Sunday, Young appears headed back to a bench role.

Young had already seen one of his pathways to at-bats close up when Jacoby Ellsbury was activated a couple of weeks ago, and now it looks like he'll have an even more difficult time getting into the likely with Beltran healthy. Though Young has probably been an equal, if not better, performer this season, Beltran's sizable contract will probably afford him some leash as the Yankees' regular right fielder.

Young barely missed his second home run of the night in his second at bat, settling for a double on a shot off the to of the wall. With Carlos Beltran nearing a return off the DL, Young may not see as regular playing time going forward, but the righty should still serve as a platoon option as he has a .365/.419/.694 line against southpaws.

Young is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays, according to Newsday's Erik Boland.

Young went just 2-for-20 (.100) over his last five games, so manager Joe Girardi decided to give him the day off Saturday. Ramon Flores will jump into the lineup in Young's place.

Young homered for the second straight game Saturday, going 1-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI.

That gives Young 10 home runs on the season, to go along with a respectable .272 batting average. Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) is close to beginning a rehab assignment, but even after he returns to the lineup, Young is playing well enough to earn at least semi-regular at-bats.

Young was terrifically productive out of the nine-hole in this one, but that's still not a fantasy-friendly batting position. However, he's spent minimal time batting ninth this year, so he could move back up toward the middle of the lineup. He's provided surprising power for the Yankees even though his batting average is lingering at .243 and his OBP is a hideous .289, but Young's playing time has become increasingly sporadic.

Young is back in the lineup Saturday against the Tigers.

Young was bumped from the lineup Friday for Mason Williams. For daily games formats, it's important to note that Young is batting ninth in the lineup and is facing a right handed starter in Alfredo Simon. Young is slashing just .162/.195/.311 against right handed starters on the season.

Young is out of the lineup Friday, Newsday's Erik Boland reports.

Prospect Mason Williams was recently called up, and he will likely be cutting into Young's playing time a bit going forward. Young should still get a handful of starts, but he will only be useful in deeper leagues.
