Leonhard recorded seven tackles (four solo), one sack and one interception in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
Leonhard has stepped up big in the absence of Tashaun Gipson (knee), recording an interception in both games that he's filled in for the regular free safety. Gipson's status for the remainder of the season remains uncertain, so Leonhard should continue to see consistent playing time for the foreseeable future.

Leonhard had an interception and five solo tackles in Sunday's loss to the Bills.
Filling in for the injured Tashaun Gipson (knee), Leonhard proved to be one of the few bright spots on the day. He picked off a Kyle Orton pass in the endzone, and even returned a punt 12 yards. Leonhard may not be a high-percentage IDP play moving forward, but the former Wisconsin Badger still showed that he can be a serviceable real-life safety in his age-32 season.

Leonhard signed with the Browns on Wednesday, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Leonhard will enter his 10th NFL season, all of which have been on a team where new Browns coach Mike Pettine has been part of the staff. In what he previously stated would be his final season in the league, Leonhard will serve as a reserve defensive back, and likely see the majority of his reps on special teams.

Browns signed S Jim Leonhard.
Leonhard and Browns coach Mike Pettine go way back. The duo has worked together with the Ravens, Jets, and most recently the Bills last season, where Leonhard recorded a career-high four interceptions in seven starts. Leonhard should push Tashaun Gipson for snaps opposite locked-in starter Donte Whitner. Turning 32 in October, Leonhard has already said this season will be his last.

Free agent S Jim Leonhard said the 2014 season will be his last in the NFL.
Leonhard, 31, appeared in all 16 games for the Bills last season, starting seven of them. He registered 41 tackles and career-highs in passes defensed (six) and interceptions (four). Leonhard has a history with Rex Ryan and new Browns coach Mike Pettine, so he could look to land a reserve/special teams role with either team.

Wed Sep 4 201313:06Jim Leonhard could start Sunday
Bills FS Jim Leonhard practiced with the first-team defense Wednesday.
Leonhard was just signed on Monday and is already listed ahead of rookies Jonathan Meeks and Duke Williams. If Jairus Byrd (foot) is ruled out for Week 1, Leonhard will draw the start in his absence. The Bills only other option would be moving Aaron Williams to free safety.

Mon Sep 2 201313:35Bills sign Jim Leonhard
Bills signed S Jim Leonhard, formerly of the Saints.
It's an indication FS Jairus Byrd (plantar fasciitis) may not be ready for Week 1. Leonhard was part of the Saints' final cuts. The 30-year-old is familiar with Jets DC Mike Pettine's system after playing for him with the Jets.

Sat Aug 31 201317:59Saints get down to 53 players
Saints waived or released S Jim Leonhard, WR Preston Parker, FB Austin Johnson, WR Saalim Hakim, OG Elliott Mealer, TE Keavon Milton, TE Michael Higgins, OG Andrew Tiller, C Jeremiah Warren, LB Ray Shipman, LB Rufus Johnson, S Jerico Nelson, LB Baraka Atkins, OT Marcel Jones, CB Korey Lindsey and CB Jumal Rolle.
The fact that Leonhard couldn't crack a secondary that was one of the worst of all time last season bodes poorly for his future. Hakim has speed to burn, but didn't step up in Joe Morgan's absence. Parker hasn't caught a pass since 2011. Tiller was a sixth-round pick in April, as was Johnson.

WGR 550 Buffalo suggests that the Bills could have interest in free agent SS Jim Leonhard.

Broncos activated S Jim Leonhard (knee) from the active/PUP list.

Sat Aug 4 201217:24Broncos sign vet S Leonhard to 1-year deal
Broncos agreed to terms with S Jim Leonhard, formerly of the Jets, on a one-year deal.
The Broncos must have been encouraged by the progress Leonhard has made with his surgically-repaired right knee, as they signed him the same day he worked out. Leonhard tried out for the Bills on Friday, who reported on their official website he was still "3-4 weeks away" from gaining full clearance. Leonhard was in the midst of another productive year for the Jets last season before tearing his patellar tendon in Week 14. Provided he can get healthy, Leonhard could see heavy snaps in the Broncos' young safety corps.

Wed Jul 18 201220:28Jets won't re-sign Jim Leonhard
The Jets will not be re-signing free agent S Jim Leonhard before training camp.
Leonhard, coming off a right patella tendon tear, recently declared himself healthy enough to work out for teams. League sources tell Jets beat writer Rich Cimini that Leonhard won't be resurfacing with New York, though. The 29-year-old Leonhard could make sense for a team like the Colts or Cowboys. He knows the basic terminology of both of those defenses.

Mon Jul 16 201208:12FA Jim Leonhard says knee is 'great'
Free agent S Jim Leonhard says his knee is feeling "great."
Leonhard tore his right patellar tendon during Week 14 of last season. He says he's healthy now and ready to work out for teams ahead of training camp. "I am getting antsy, football is right around the corner and I don't have a team, kind of getting antsy ready to get back on that field," Leonhard said. He's a major medical risk for teams due to his knee and the broken leg that ended his 2010 season prematurely.

Sat Apr 14 201213:35'No doubt' Leonhard will be ready for camp
Free agent S Jim Leonhard (knee surgery) says there's "no doubt" he'll be ready for training camp, and that he's drawn interest from "multiple teams" in free agency.
Leonhard also says he's had "good conversations" with the Jets. GM Mike Tannenbaum said in late March the team hadn't "closed the door" on re-signing him. Leonhard is recovering from a serious injury in a torn patellar tendon, but would have a good chance of avoiding the PUP list to begin the season if he's indeed 100 percent for the start of camp. If he re-signs with New York, he'd provide insurance for LaRon Landry and Eric Smith.

Tue Mar 20 201221:03Jets 'haven't shut the door' on Leonhard
GM Mike Tannenbaum says the Jets haven't "shut the door" on re-signing free agent S Jim Leonhard.
Re-signing Leonhard wasn't expected to be a priority for the Jets, but they still need a free safety. They could get more serious about brining him back once he's close to recovered from the torn right patellar tendon that ended his 2011. The problem is, that might not be until after the beginning of camp. The Jets aren't done making moves at safety following their Monday signing of LaRon Landry.
