Morgan re-signed with the Saints on Wednesday and, according to head coach Sean Payton, he will "have a role" in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, reports Mike Triplett of ESPN.com.
How much Morgan actually plays is up in the air, but based on Payton's comments, it appears that the speedy receiver could be used to spell top receiver Brandin Cooks. Morgan is certainly familiar with Drew Brees and the Saints' offense, so there should not be any acclimation period. However it remains a question whether he will see enough playing time to make a fantasy impact. Still, even with only limited snaps, Morgan has the sort of big-play capabilities that could make him useful in daily fantasy formats.
Sun Sep 6 201512:10Morgan cut by Saints on Saturday
Morgan was cut by the Saints on Saturday, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
A source close to Joe Morgan said he was told Morgan could likely be back on the roster soon after the Saints work out the numbers. Still, even if Morgan does return to New Orleans, it appears that he would, at best, be fifth on the Saints' receiving depth chart, behind Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks, Brandon Coleman, and Willie Snead.

Morgan caught two passes on four targets for 27 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Packers, but both Mike Triplett of ESPN.com and Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune expect Morgan to be cut this weekend.
Morgan had a rough night in Green Bay, fumbling once (which he recovered) and dropping a pass that led to an interception. He has in a tight battle for a roster spot with veteran Josh Morgan, but it has been reported that the Saints are only expected to keep one of the Morgans. The Saints can look past one bad game if they like what Joe has done all summer, but if Thursday's exhibition was the tie-breaker, he's in trouble. Even if Morgan makes the roster, he is likely to be no better than fourth or fifth on the wide receiver depth chart, with Brandon Coleman expected to serve as the Saints' No. 3 wideout to start the year.

Morgan caught three passes on four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Texans.
Morgan got only a sprinkling of snaps in the first half, ceding playing time to Brandon Coleman, Willie Snead, and Josh Morgan. The Saints' depth chart remains unsettled, with the exception of starters Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks, but Sunday's snap distribution doesn't appear to favor Morgan's chances of making the final roster. Even if he makes the team, Morgan should probably be owned in only the deepest of leagues, as playing time might be difficult to come by in the Saints' crowded receiving corps.

Morgan, who re-signed with the Saints this offseason, drew praise from quarterback Drew Brees after performing well Wednesday's joint practice with the Patriots, reports Mike Triplett of ESPN.com. "I've been very pleased with Joe. I have always been a fan of Joe's," Brees said. "I know he's had his ups and downs, but I have a lot of confidence in him."
Morgan is on his last chance in New Orleans, after he was released for both on- and off-field issues at the end of last year. He has been an afterthought most of this offseason in the Saints' competition for the No. 3 wide receiver, but Morgan has been solid and steady throughout training camp. Triplett believes that Brandon Coleman has the leg up in the depth chart battle, but with three preseason games to go, there's still a lot to be decided. If Morgan can carve out some playing time in the Saints' offense, the speedster could be of interest in deeper leagues as a big-play threat.

Despite trading away both Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills this offseason, the Saints did not take a wide receiver in the 2015 NFL Draft. Morgan is a leading candidate to be the Saints' fourth or fifth receiver, behind Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks, and Nick Toon, reports ESPN.com.
Morgan re-signed with the Saints in April, which was a bit of a surprise since Morgan was released by the Saints last season - apparently for both on- and off-field issues. When asked about Morgan after the draft, however, head coach Sean Payton said that Morgan "deserved" an opportunity to come back to New Orleans after taking a "handful of steps" that led to his return. Regardless of the reasons for his return, Morgan will be in a tight battle for a roster spot, competing with two of last season's undrafted free agents that Payton has praised heavily this offseason, Seantavius Jones and Brandon Coleman. Still, Morgan may have an early leg up for playing time, as, unlike those two, who have never played an NFL snap, Morgan has provided some dynamic big-play moments in his brief career - something this New Orleans' offense was so desperately lacking last season.
Thu Apr 2 201523:31Joseph Morgan: Re-Signs With Saints
Morgan re-signed with the Saints on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Morgan was released by the Saints in December midway through a poor 2014 campaign. However, the team tends to have an open-minded approach when it comes to the roster, and will give the wideout another shot with the club. It's unclear where he will fit in, but with Kenny Stills no longer on the roster, he could make a run at a spot out of camp.
Tue Dec 9 201416:35Morgan released by Saints on Tuesday
Morgan was released by the Saints on Tuesday, NFL.com reports.
Morgan has big-play ability with six career touches of 40 yards or longer, but he served a two-game suspension earlier this season and apparently missed a key assignment in Sunday's game, so the Saints decided to take him off the roster. There's a good chance he will get a fresh start elsewhere.

Morgan caught one pass on one target for 62 yards and also took one carry for 67 yards in Monday night's loss to the Ravens.
Morgan was dynamic in the absence of Brandin Cooks (hand) and Robert Meachem (ankle), gaining 129 total yards on just two touches. While he was missing-in-action for most of the game, Morgan's explosive performance could open the door for more opportunities over the final few weeks, particularly given New Orleans' desperate need for playmakers to stretch the field. He's not going to be a reliable option until he sees more playing time, even in Week 13 against a porous Pittsburgh defense, but fantasy owners in deeper leagues should keep him on their radars.
Tue Nov 11 201421:01Joseph Morgan: (Suspension) Rejoins Team
Morgan was reinstated from club suspension Monday, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.
A reason for Morgan's suspension was never provided by the team, but his ban ended up lasting just two weeks. The fourth-year wideout has played in one game this season and isn't likely to work his way past fourth on the depth chart.
Thu Nov 6 201419:53Morgan's suspension isn't season-ending
Morgan's suspension isn't season-ending, ESPN.com reports.
Morgan was placed on the reserve/suspended list last Tuesday, Oct. 28, for an undisclosed reason, but such a designation can only result in a maximum ban of four weeks. Even so, he hasn't been a part of the wide receiver mix since Week 1, when he failed to reel in any of the three passes directed his way. Therefore, he won't be a fantasy consideration for the foreseeable future.
Tue Oct 28 201418:11The Saints placed Morgan on reserve/suspended list Tuesday
The Saints placed Morgan on the reserve/suspended list Tuesday, NFL.com reports.
It's not certain why Morgan was deactivated, but he will not be on the roster for Thursday's game against the Patriots.
Sun Sep 28 201419:13Morgan inactive for Sunday's game against Cowboys
Morgan is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, the Saints' official site reports.
Morgan, who has yet to catch a pass this season, is a break or two away from fantasy relevance at this point.
Sun Sep 21 201412:02Morgan (knee) active for Sunday's game against Vikings
Morgan (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Morgan sat as a healthy scratch last week following the return of Kenny Stills, but coach Sean Payton decided to go with five wideouts for Week 3. Look for Morgan to serve as the designated deep threat for the Saints on Sunday, but it's likely that he turns in a goose egg in the catch column.
Sun Sep 14 201412:15Morgan will be healthy scratch for Sunday's game against Browns
Morgan will be a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the Browns, ESPN's Mike Triplett reports.
With Kenny Stills (quadriceps) returning to action Sunday, Morgan will serve as a healthy scratch as the Saints elect to skimp on receivers for Sunday's matchup. Morgan failed to reel in any catches last week and remains a boom-or-bust option in fantasy circles since he's typically only targeted on deep throws.
Mon Sep 8 201410:12Morgan did not catch pass in Sunday's loss in Atlanta
Morgan did not catch a pass in Sunday's loss in Atlanta.
Despite the absence of Kenny Stills, Morgan posted a goose egg in the score column, though he was extremely close to breaking a huge play on a couple of downfield shots intended for him, including a deep ball in the end zone that was that was tipped away at the last second before it fell into Morgan's awaiting arms. Meanwhile, Brandin Cooks proved to be the apple of Drew Brees' eye, hauling in seven passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut. Morgan remains an intriguing sleeper option for his big play ability so long as Stills is out, but he's shaping up to be a boom-or-bust option.

Morgan will start at wide receiver with Kenny Stills inactive due to a quadriceps injury, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Following an excellent preseason, Morgan could be a nice sleeper against an Atlanta secondary that was porous last year. However, it's not clear exactly how the targets will be divided in the receiving corps after Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham.

Morgan appears to be the most likely beneficiary if Kenny Stills (quadriceps) is unable to play on Sunday, as Morgan is listed as Stills' lone backup in the Saints' initial depth chart. Stills was limited in practice on Wednesday after re-aggravating a quad injury in the third preseason game against the Colts.
Rookie Brandin Cooks will certainly have a role in the offense, and the Saints could even deploy the recently re-signed Robert Meachem or Nick Toon if Stills misses time, but Morgan's ability to stretch the field closest replicate Stills' role in the offense. Following an excellent preseason, Morgan could be a nice sleeper if Stills does miss Sunday's contest against an Atlanta secondary that was porous last year.

Morgan is listed as the backup to Kenny Stills in the Saints' initial depth chart, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Morgan had an excellent preseason, recapturing some of the form that made him a feared deep threat the latter portion of 2012, while also showing off improved intermediate route-running abilities. As such, the latest depth chart confirms that Morgan, not Nick Toon, is the most likely beneficiary if Stills were to miss the start of the regular season time with the quad injury he aggravated in the third preseason game.

Morgan caught four passes for 33 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Ravens.
The speedy Morgan is typically known for his downfield presence, but this time he showed off his versatility as an intermediate route runner. Though Brandin Cooks is the most likely beneficiary with Kenny Stills' availability for Week 1 up in the air, it could be Morgan, not Nick Toon, who could see the biggest bump in value if he can continue to prove he's more than simply a deep threat.
