Tue Jun 16 201512:29Greene released by Titans on Tuesday
Greene was released by the Titans on Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.
Greene was expected to attend a mandatory three-day minicamp that starts Tuesday, after missing all of voluntary OTAs. It's unclear whether his absence from OTAs affected this decision, but even if he'd stuck with the team through training camp, he would have faced an uphill battle to make the final roster. The Titans save more than $3 million by releasing Greene, so it's somewhat surprising the move didn't happen months ago. Bishop Sankey is the favorite to lead the Tennessee backfield, with David Cobb and Dexter McCluster likely in supporting roles. Greene, meanwhile, will probably need to compete for a roster spot wherever he may land.

Greene is expected to attend the Titans' mandatory three-day minicamp on Tuesday, despite being absent from OTAs up to this point, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Greene comes into minicamp behind 2014 second-round pick Bishop Sankey on the depth chart, and missing voluntary workouts certainly hasn't helped the veteran make up any ground. The Titans also drafted running back David Cobb in the fifth round this offseason, meaning Greene will have plenty of competition for touches in Tennessee's backfield. The 29-year-old had only one catch in 13 games in 2014, so his fantasy value this coming season -- assuming he makes the Titans' final roster -- will be minimal if he doesn't end up claiming a significant portion of the team's rushing workload.

Greene was absent from the first day of Tennessee's organized team activities Tuesday, The Tennessean reports. OTAs are voluntary, so the veteran is well within his rights not to show up.
Green told team officials he was absent because he is the primary caretaker of a child. He's facing a tough battle this summer just to hold onto a job, so it behooves him to get on the field. Bishop Sankey sits atop the depth chart while the Titans selected running back David Cobb in the fifth round of the draft.

The Tennessean suggests that Greene's roster spot could be in jeopardy following the team's selection of David Cobb in the recent NFL draft.
It's a notion echoed by ESPN.com, though the veteran running back -- who has been away from the team's voluntary organized team activities to attend to a family matter -- remains slated to participate in the Titans' mandatory minicamp, which runs from June 16-18. With Bishop Sankey still atop the team's RB depth chart, Greene could well be squeezed out by Cobb, a fellow big back, assuming the rookie is able to stay healthy in advance of the 2015 season.
Sun Dec 28 201420:20Greene had 11 carries for 94 yards in Sunday's loss to Colts
Greene had 11 carries for 94 yards in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
Greene led the team in carries and his 52-yard run that accounted for a bulk of his rushing yards would have led the team on its own. Greene still has one year left on the three-year contract he signed in March 2013, though with Bishop Sankey expected to take on a bigger role in 2015, Greene's fantasy prospects for next season are rather limited.

Greene carried seven times for 28 yards in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jaguars.
One week after Greene handled most of the work, Bishop Sankey took 14 carries for 44 yards, while Leon Washington posted a 7-62-1 receiving line. While it's possible that Greene could see more touches in Week 17 against the Colts, there's little upside to be had in this committee, and Sankey appears to be the better bit for the season finale.
Sun Dec 14 201421:46Greene had 16 carries for 50 yards in Sunday's loss to Jets
Greene had 16 carries for 50 yards in Sunday's loss to the Jets. He also caught one pass for 13 yards.
Greene was inactive last week, but saw lots of work Sunday against his former team, while rookie Bishop Sankey was not used much, rushing for just eight yards on three carries. It remains to be seen how much work Greene will get Thursday at Jacksonville, although the matchup is favorable.
Sun Dec 7 201411:48Greene inactive for Sunday's game against Giants
Greene is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.
He'll take a seat this week after recording just two carries for zero yards in Week 13, with the Titans' Week 14 rushing attack slated to be headed by Bishop Sankey and Dexter McCluster, with Antonio Andrews also in the mix.

Greene had six carries for 15 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Eagles.
Bishop Sankey continues to lead the backfield, though his 10 carries for 37 yards were hardly impressive. In addition, Sankey lost a fumble, and Greene scored on a two-yard run in the second quarter, showing that he's very much in a vulture-role near the goal-line. Greene's fantasy upside is therefore very dependent on scoring touchdowns, something that isn't likely to happen unless the Titans get in close. Up next is a Week 13 matchup against a Texans defense that has allowed only five rushing touchdowns this season.

Greene had three carries for six yards in Monday's 27-24 loss to the Steelers.
Greene converted a 2nd-and-1 and a 3rd-and-1, but it was Bishop Sankey who once again dominated the workload. While he'll likely continue to get some carries in short-yardage situations, Greene has just eight touches over the last three games, and he has yet to catch a pass this season.

Greene had three carries for five yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 21-7 loss at Baltimore.
Greene potentially could have had a short touchdown, but he fumbled in the end zone in the first quarter, and did not touch the ball again. Meanwhile, rookie Bishop Sankey was effective, albeit unspectacular, rushing for 58 yards on 17 carries. At this point it's hard to imagine Greene seeing a lot of work, especially considering the aforementioned fumble, but if you need him, he'll take on Pittsburgh at home in Week 11.

Greene (hamstring) had one carry for one yard Sunday against the Texans.
Greene missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury and looks to have lost his starting job to rookie Bishop Sankey, who had nine carries for 35 rushing yards and four catches for 25 receiving yards Sunday. The Titans fell behind 13-3 at halftime and 27-3 with less than six minutes left in the third quarter, giving little hope that the running game could get an opportunity to produce. Following a Week 9 bye, Greene looks like he'll assume the backup job behind Sankey in Week 10 at Baltimore.
Sun Oct 26 201411:44Greene (hamstring) active for Sunday's game against Texans
Greene (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Greene was arrested Friday night for fleeing the scene of a parking violation, but it had no standing on his status for Sunday's game. He has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury, but with Bishop Sankey leading the way during that time, it's possible Greene's time as the clear starter is over.
Sat Oct 25 201411:46Shonn Greene: Arrested Friday
Greene was arrested Friday night on charges of a handicap parking violation, driving on a revoked/suspended license, reckless driving and resisting stop/halt/frisk, the The Tennessean reports.
After determining that Greene was the person involved in a handicap parking incident in Franklin, Tennessee on Friday night, local police contacted the Titans and Greene turned himself in a few hours later. Upon posting $2,000 bond, Greene was released Friday night. The Titans did not immediate provide comment on the situation.

Greene (hamstring) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Texans, John Glennon of the Tennessean reports.
After missing two games with his hamstring injury, Greene is poised to return to the Titans' Week 8 backfield mix, though with Bishop Sankey also on hand, Greene is a speculative fantasy play until his role in the Tennessee offense is reestablished.
Thu Oct 23 201418:33Greene (hamstring) limited at practice Thursday
Greene (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday, the Tennessean reports.
More on his status Friday, but at this stage, Greene is hopeful with regard to his chances of returning to the Titans' lineup Sunday against the Texans, after missing the team's last two games.
Wed Oct 22 201415:47Greene (hamstring) limited at practice Wednesday
Greene (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Per John Glennon of the Tennessean, Greene suggested that he was able to do "just about everything" at practice Wednesday and feels good about playing Sunday against the Texans. That said, in such a scenario, it's hard to endorse Greene as a Week 8 fantasy option, with Bishop Sankey also in the Titans' backfield equation.
Sat Oct 18 201414:07Shonn Greene: (Hamstring) Ruled Out
Greene (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Washington, John Glennon of the Tennessean reports.
Greene was unable to practice at all during the week due to the hamstring injury, so his downgrade from "doubtful" comes as no surprise. Bishop Sankey, who totaled 61 yards on 18 carries against Jacksonville, figures to again head the Titans' ground attack in Week 7, with Dexter McCluster and Leon Washington likely sharing the backup carries.

Greene (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Washington, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.
Greene will almost assuredly be out this weekend, which puts Bishop Sankey on track to head the Titans' Week 7 backfield, with Dexter McCluster and Leon Washington on hand to serve in change-of-pace roles on Sunday.
