Anderson had his contract selected by the Athletics on Sunday from Triple-A Nashville.
Anderson has been hitting a .561 OPS as a 28-year-old from Triple-A, so don't expect much from the couple of weeks he's with the team. Day-to-day injuries to Stephen Vogt and Josh Phegley prompted his call-up, but he's the fourth catcher in the long view of things.

The A's outrighted Anderson to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
A spot on the 40-man roster had to be freed up with pitcher Taylor Thompson coming aboard via a waiver claim from the White Sox, and Anderson was the casualty. It likely wasn't a very difficult call for GM Billy Beane, as Anderson has continually hit the wall at Triple-A and seems destined to play out the rest of his career as organizational depth.

It's about time. Yadi is a workhorse and all, but he's caught 38 innings in the past three days and could probably use some rest. Anderson, once a top prospect in the Cardinals' system, was 6-for-18 (.333) before being called up to the big leagues last week to fill in for the injured Jason LaRue.

Sat Apr 10 201014:26Cards prospect Anderson homers, doubles
Bryan Anderson went 3-for-6 with a homer, a double and a walk Friday for Triple-A Memphis.
Anderson was a disappointment last year, and it doesn't seem like any of the teams looking for a catcher of the future have made much of an effort to pry him away from the Cardinals. He should be available, since he's never going to overtake Yadier Molina and he doesn't fit the usual mold for a Tony La Russa backup, but he'll have to step it up this season in order to amass much trade value.
