Sun Jan 2 201108:45Evan MacLane signs with Orix Buffaloes
The Orix Buffaloes of the Japanese Pacific League have signed LHP Evan MacLane.
MacLane finally made it up to the big leagues in 2010 with the Cardinals after five seasons at Triple-A and promptly made history by becoming the second pitcher in the last 40 years to allow a walk-off home run to the first batter he faced in the majors. He's put up some decent numbers in the minors but doesn't really have big league stuff, so a move overseas is probably a wise one for the 28-year-old.

The Cardinals added Daniel Descalso to the 40-man roster Saturday and needed to free up a spot. MacLane, who posted a 4.45 ERA in 147 2/3 Triple-A innings this season, was the roster casualty.

Cardinals recalled LHP Evan MacLane from Triple-A Memphis.
The 27-year-old MacLane has posted a 4.47 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 17 starts this season for the Memphis Redbirds. With injuries mounting in St. Louis, he may be asked to start a game before the All-Star break. Otherwise he will pitch in mop-up duty. Either way, he can be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Cardinals optioned LHP Evan MacLane to Triple-A Memphis.
MacLane didn't make in appearance in the two games he was present for in Chicago. He could be recalled down the road if the Cards need another lefty.
Sat May 29 201013:47Cardinals recall LHP MacLane
Cardinals recalled LHP Evan MacLane from Triple-A Memphis.
MacLane was a starter at Triple-A, but could see time in the Cardinals bullpen, presumably in the middle relief role vacated by Fernando Salas. He was 3-4 with a 3.86 ERA and a WHIP of 1.24 in 10 starts for Triple-A Memphis.
