Sun Jan 2 2011 | 08:45 | Evan MacLane signs with Orix Buffaloes |
The Orix Buffaloes of the Japanese Pacific League have signed LHP Evan MacLane. |
MacLane finally made it up to the big leagues in 2010 with the Cardinals after five seasons at Triple-A and promptly made history by becoming the second pitcher in the last 40 years to allow a walk-off home run to the first batter he faced in the majors. He's put up some decent numbers in the minors but doesn't really have big league stuff, so a move overseas is probably a wise one for the 28-year-old. |

Cardinals recalled LHP Evan MacLane from Triple-A Memphis. |
The 27-year-old MacLane has posted a 4.47 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP in 17 starts this season for the Memphis Redbirds. With injuries mounting in St. Louis, he may be asked to start a game before the All-Star break. Otherwise he will pitch in mop-up duty. Either way, he can be avoided for fantasy purposes. |

Cardinals optioned LHP Evan MacLane to Triple-A Memphis. |
MacLane didn't make in appearance in the two games he was present for in Chicago. He could be recalled down the road if the Cards need another lefty. |

Cardinals recalled LHP Evan MacLane from Triple-A Memphis. |
MacLane was a starter at Triple-A, but could see time in the Cardinals bullpen, presumably in the middle relief role vacated by Fernando Salas. He was 3-4 with a 3.86 ERA and a WHIP of 1.24 in 10 starts for Triple-A Memphis. |
