ESPN's Buster Olney reported Wednesday afternoon that Miller would be moved to Chicago after the completion of the Colby Rasmus blockbuster. But that's apparently not the case. Miller, a veteran left-hander, has posted a 4.02 ERA in 15 2/3 innings this season. He'll operate as a lefty specialist for Toronto.

With Brian Tallet on the DL, Miller really needs to find his groove as the Cards' only lefty currently in the bullpen.

I don't think he's available [Thursday], for example. ... We'll just use right-handers that can get left-handers out." We originally heard that Miller could miss "several days," but it now sounds like he has a shot to return as soon as this weekend. La Russa will play the matchups while he's out, but he also has Dennys Reyes, who is perfectly capable against left-handed batters.
