Fri Apr 29 201112:31Trever Miller really struggling
Trever Miller hasn't retired a single batter in his last five appearances.
OK, so he's only faced five hitters (walking three and giving up two hits), but the struggles are really getting to the veteran southpaw. "I haven't gotten one out," he said. "And it feels like two months." The 37-year-old has now allowed five hits while walking four in four innings this season. With Brian Tallet on the DL, Miller really needs to find his groove as the Cards' only lefty currently in the bullpen.

Wed Oct 6 201018:46Miller's option for 2011 vests at $2 million
Trever Miller will earn $2 million in 2011 via a vesting option.
The option required Miller to appear in 45 games in 2010, and he appeared in 57. Holding left-handed hitters to a .203/.294/.257 batting line and posting a 1.28 WHIP overall, he was an asset to the Cardinals' bullpen this past season and should be a reliable specialist again in 2011.

Mon Sep 13 201018:27Miller finally recovered from elbow strain
Trever Miller (forearm) threw 25 pitches Monday and declared himself available again for relief duty.
Miller has been sidelined since September 6 due to a strained muscle in his left forearm. "They didn't find anything wrong with the ligament," said the southpaw, "which looked really good. I'm 37 years old and I've still got a nice, healthy ligament in there." He has a 4.02 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and has held left-handed hitters to a .203/.292/.266 batting line this year.

Sat Sep 11 201012:15Miller out 1-3 weeks with forearm injury
Trever Miller (forearm) is expected to miss 1-3 weeks with a strained muscle in his left forearm.
The earliest he would return is for next weekend's series against the Padres, or he could be out up until the last series of the season against the Rockies. The Cardinals just recently got fellow lefty reliever Dennys Reyes back from the DL, and they would prefer not to use him too often, but it sounds like they might not have a choice. Miller has had another solid year out of the Cards bullpen, posting a 4.02 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and .203 BAA vs. left-handed hitters.

Fri Sep 10 201009:07Miller day-to-day with forearm strain
Trever Miller is considered day-to-day with a left forearm strain.
"They [the medical staff] see a problem," Cardinals manager Tony La Russa on Thursday. "We're just going to day-to-day it, see when he's available. I don't think he's available [Thursday], for example. ... We'll just use right-handers that can get left-handers out." We originally heard that Miller could miss "several days," but it now sounds like he has a shot to return as soon as this weekend. La Russa will play the matchups while he's out, but he also has Dennys Reyes, who is perfectly capable against left-handed batters.
