Mon Jun 8 201514:30Boggs released by Braves on Sunday
Boggs was released by the Braves on Sunday.
Six weeks after signing Boggs to a minor league deal, the Braves cut ties with the 31-year-old. He posted disappointing results in 13 appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett (6.08 ERA). Boggs had an impressive 2012 campaign, posting an ERA of 2.21 in 78 appearances for the Cardinals, but things quickly fell apart from there. In 2013, his last year in the majors, Boggs allowed 23 runs in 27 appearances with the Cardinals and Rockies. Boggs may latch on with another organization, but it's highly unlikely he will work his way into a fantasy-relevant role.
Thu Mar 26 201509:37Boggs released by Red Sox on Thursday
Boggs was released by the Red Sox on Thursday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Boggs was brought on as a non-roster invite, but didn't quite make the cut after allowing nine earned runs in four innings this spring. The 31-year-old will likely look to catch on elsewhere, though expect it to be a low-risk, team-friendly deal.

Boggs pitched his second scoreless relief inning in Wednesday's game against the Yankees.
Boggs, who is coming off hernia surgery, said he's feeling good again and is showcasing himself for a potential job in the majors. If not with Boston, certainly for any other team watching. Boggs can opt out of his minor-league contract with Boston by Apr. 4, if he's not on the major league roster.
Thu Mar 5 201507:18Boggs says he should have underwent hernia surgery earlier
Boggs says he should have underwent hernia surgery earlier, the Boston Globe reports. "I kick myself for not taking care of it sooner than I did," said Boggs. "To see the effect it had on me and my career, and how I've had to start all over again, convincing people I can get back to what I was, has been a pretty humbling experience for me."
Boggs, who pitched an inning and struck out two Tuesday against Northeastern University, put off surgery when the problem first arose in 2013 and went from closer to Triple-A pitcher in a matter of weeks. He's kicked around since then with Rockies, White Sox and Giants before undergoing surgery in the offseason. Boggs is an under-the-radar relief option for Boston this spring.

Boggs signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox on Monday that includes and invite to spring training, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
Boggs hasn't seen time in the majors since 2013, playing most of 2014 in Triple-A between two different organizations, struggling with both. The 30-year-old will need to prove something in spring training if he wants a chance at a spot in the Red Sox's bullpen.

Giants signed RHP Mitchell Boggs to a minor league contract.
Boggs was released by the White Sox on July 1 after posting a 9.50 ERA and 18/17 K/BB ratio in 25 relief appearances at Triple-A Charlotte. He was one of the top setup men in the majors in 2012 with the Cardinals, but that seems like the distant past at this point.

White Sox re-signed RHP Mitchell Boggs to a minor league contract.

Sun Mar 23 201412:09White Sox release RHP Boggs
White Sox released RHP Mitchell Boggs.
Chicago tried to buy low on his arm talent with a one-year, $1.1 million big league contract last month, but they'll swallow their losses early. You may recall that Boggs replaced Jason Motte (Tommy John surgery) as the Cardinals' closer last season, but he was quickly displaced and ended up getting lit up for a 8.10 ERA over 23 1/3 innings between St. Louis and Colorado. He'll have to settle for a minor league deal this time around.

Fri Feb 7 201412:29White Sox sign reliever Mitchell Boggs
White Sox signed RHP Mitchell Boggs to a one-year contract.
The financials aren't available, but Boggs managed to land a major league deal. The soon-to-be 30-year-old reliever posted an 8.10 ERA and 16/20 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings at the big league level last season but held a 3.08 mark over the previous three campaigns. The White Sox are obviously hoping Boggs can return to his 2010-12 form.

Tue Jan 21 201415:12Mets still somewhat interested in Boggs
Mike Puma of the New York Post hears that the Mets are still "somewhat" interested in free agent reliever Mitchell Boggs.
Puma hears that "nothing is on the front burner" for the Mets' bullpen, so a deal might not come together. Boggs was non-tendered by the Rockies in December after posting an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 innings of work at the major league league in 2013. The 29-year-old has enjoyed some success in the past, so he could be worth the gamble.

Wed Dec 11 201314:17Mitchell Boggs has interest from five teams
According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Phillies, Indians, Mariners and Cubs are among the teams expressing interest in free agent right-hander Mitchell Boggs.
And the Mets are also known to like Boggs, who was non-tendered by the Rockies at the beginning of December after posting an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 innings this past season between St. Louis and Colorado. The 29-year-old was one of the top setup men in baseball in 2012.

Mon Dec 9 201320:20Mets interested in Mitchell Boggs
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets are interested in Mitchell Boggs.
The Mets are looking for relievers with late-game experience, as they want some protection in case Bobby Parnell (neck) isn't healthy. Boggs is coming off a lackluster season in 2013, posting an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 innings, but he'd be a nice buy-low candidate given his previous success with the Cardinals.

Mon Dec 2 201323:35Mitchell Boggs non-tendered by Rockies
Rockies non-tendered RHP Mitchell Boggs.
The Rockies tried to trade the reliever but were unable to find a taker. Boggs was slated to earn more than $1.5 million in arbitration, which was too much in the Rockies' eyes after his disappointing 2013. He pitched well from 2010-12, though, so someone will give the former setup man a shot.

Mon Dec 2 201308:51Rockies might non-tender Mitchell Boggs
Mitchell Boggs might be non-tendered on Monday.
That's the word from Denver Post beat reporter Troy Renck, who says the Rockies "were still debating the decision this past weekend." Boggs was once a highly-reliable setup man for the Cardinals but he hasn't been the same since they tried him at closer to open the 2013 season. He had an 8.10 ERA in 23 1/3 total frames this year.

Sat Jul 20 201316:20Rockies call up Mitchell Boggs from Double-A
Rockies recalled RHP Mitchell Boggs from Double-A Tulsa.
Boggs was acquired from the Cardinals earlier this month for international-market signing bonus money. The right-hander was one of the better setup men in the major leagues last season for St. Louis but has struggled mightily at multiple levels of professional ball here in 2013. He'll pitch in middle relief for the Rox.

Tue Jul 9 201319:52Rockies acquire Mitchell Boggs from Cardinals
Rockies acquired RHP Mitchell Boggs from the Cardinals in exchange for international signing bonus slot No. 4.
Boggs began the season as the Cardinals' closer, but he flamed out in that role and struggled again after a stint in the minors, ultimately posting an 11.05 ERA and 2.45 WHIP over 18 appearances. He led the National League in holds just a year ago, though, so it's a potentially nice buy-low opportunity for the Rockies.

Fri Jul 5 201312:45Mitchell Boggs struggling at Triple-A
Mitchell Boggs holds a 5.49 ERA and 1.73 WHIP since his last demotion to Triple-A Memphis.
He's also given up six unearned runs over 19 2/3 innings. The Cardinals' former closer was used as a starter at Memphis briefly, but, at his request, has moved back to the bullpen. It's obvious, though, that he's not close to being recalled, especially since guys like Michael Blazek and Keith Butler are pitching well for the Cards. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Joe Strauss thinks Boggs or Marc Rzepczynski, who is also at Memphis, will be traded this month.
