Mesa was promoted from Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Mesa hit for a .413/.449/.630 slash line in 12 games for Double-A New Hampshire and has produced at many levels of the minors for stretches but has never seemed to be able to put it all together. With a crowded outfield for the Blue Jays, Mesa likely won't crack the major league roster barring a barrage of injuries, but he has hit .400 (6-for-16) across eight MLB games in his career.

Mesa, a native of the Dominican Republic, backed out of the World Baseball Classic earlier this month in order to help his chances of making the Yankees.
