Bynes notched five total tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in Thursday's preseason win over the Bills.
Bynes was a safe bet to make the team as a backup linebacker and Thursday's performance should only help to that end. Once the season starts, however, expect Bynes to see the field primarily as a special teams player. The Lions have a very strong starting linebacking corps and so backup opportunities may be tough to come by unless there is an injury.

Bynes was waived by the Ravens on Tuesday.
Bynes played in 15 games last season, making six starts along the way, en route to 45 tackles (22 solo) on the campaign. However, with the Ravens opting to re-sign cornerback Derek Cox on Tuesday, a corresponding roster move needed to be made and since Albert McClellan and Zachary Orr have make strong special teams contributions recently, Bynes was deemed the odd man out at inside linebacker. The 25-year-old run stopper will look to land elsewhere before the regular season kicks off this week.

Bynes had one tackle in Saturday's preseason game against the Redskins.
A starter for part of last season, Bynes now works primarily with the second-team defense, as the Ravens have turned inside linebacker from a weakness into one of their primary strengths. Should anything happen to Daryl Smith, Bynes could find himself with a two-down role, but he probably wouldn't get much work on obvious passing downs.
