White Sox signed OF Delwyn Young to a minor league contract.
Young posted a weak .244/.298/.387 batting line with 109 strikeouts and 30 walks in 480 plate appearances last season for the Phillies' Triple-A team in Lehigh Valley. He still has real problems with plate discipline and will struggle to climb to the major leagues with Chicago.

Delwyn Young slugged a three-run homer off of Minnesota's Joe Nathan on Sunday.
Fighting for a spot on Philadelphia's bench, Young is hitting .333 to go along with six RBI this spring. With Domonic Brown set to miss the beginning of the season with a broken hand, Young should make Philly's Opening Day roster.

Phillies signed INF-OF Delwyn Young to a minor league contract.
He'll receive an invite to major league spring training as part of the deal. Young, 28, batted .236/.286/.414 with seven home runs and 28 RBI over 207 plate appearances with the Pirates last season. While he has played both the infield and outfield, he's a poor defender just about anywhere.
Tue Dec 7 201019:02Report: Marlins not in on Young or Crede
The Marlins are not in the mix for free agent utilityman Delwyn Young and haven't considered taking a chance on third baseman Joe Crede, according to Juan C. Rodriguez of the Sun Sentinel.
Young was designated for assignment by the Pirates in mid-November and elected free agency after passing through waivers. He posted a pitiful .236 batting average and .286 on-base percentage over 191 at-bats in 2010. Crede is hoping for another chance after sitting out this past season.

Fri Nov 19 201022:13Delwyn Young designated for assignment
Pirates designated INF/OF Delwyn Young for assignment.
Young plays poor defense, but he does offer some versatility with experience at second base and both corner outfield spots. He hasn't been able to hit with consistency at the major league level, but he's not a slouch at the plate and should be able to find a utility job somewhere.
Thu Apr 8 201015:53Pirates' Young reaches four times
Making his first start of the season, Delwyn Young doubled twice and walked twice Thursday against the Dodgers.
Ryan Church is the Pirates' fourth outfielder, but the team is going to have to figure out a way to get Young some at-bats, too. He was the Pirates' best hitter this spring, finishing with a .283/.345/.642 line, six homers and 18 RBI in 53 at-bats, so maybe he should play over Lastings Milledge at times.
