Mon Mar 3 201408:47Plaxico Burress still rehabbing his shoulder
Free agent WR Plaxico Burress is still rehabbing his shoulder.
Burress tore his rotator cuff during training camp last August and was hit with a 7-8 month rehab timetable. But he's just started working on range of motion right now and his goal is to get medically cleared in time for training camp. Even if Plax does get healthy, we'd be surprised if he stuck on a roster this season. He's entering his age-38 season.

Tue Feb 25 201418:21Plaxico Burress hopes to play in 2014
Free agent Plaxico Burress hopes to continue his playing career.
Burress is back in the news after Knicks guard Raymond Felton was arrested on gun charges. Going on 37, Burress missed all of 2013 with a torn rotator cuff. Burress has made only four appearances since he appeared in all 16 games for the Jets in 2011. He's almost certainly played his final down.

Fri Aug 9 201312:35Plax going under the knife on Monday
Plaxico Burress (torn rotator cuff) will undergo surgery on Monday.
It's expected to be season-ending surgery. Even if it's not, it should end 36-year-old wideout's time with the Steelers. He was only slated for a bit role this season.

Thu Aug 8 201323:40Plax tears rotator cuff, likely done for year
Plaxico Burress suffered a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder during Thursday's camp practice, and is likely done for the year.
Because Burress is 36 years old now, it's a career-threatening injury. Plax had been running behind Antonio Brown, Emmanuel Sanders, Markus Wheaton, and Jerricho Cotchery in Steelers camp. He finished 2012 with three catches for 42 yards and one touchdown in three appearances. Outside of red-zone packages, Burress was not slated for a large role in Pittsburgh's 2013 offense.

Sun Jun 9 201312:07Burress thinks he can 'dominate' in red zone
Plaxico Burress feels he can still "dominate" in the red zone.
"I know I can still play, I know I can dominate in the red zone," Burress, 35, said. "In those one-on-one opportunities, just succeed at a high rate. I know I can." Burress might be a factor near the goal line, but he's not expected to play a major offensive role between the 20s as the No. 4 or 5 receiver.

Wed Mar 13 201318:19Burress re-ups with the Steelers
Steelers re-signed Plaxico Burress.
Presumably, it's a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum. Burress, 36 in August, caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in four games with the Steelers last season. If he makes the team, he'll be no more than the fourth or fifth receiver.

Tue Mar 12 201313:40Steelers planning to re-sign Plaxico Burress
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Steelers are planning to re-sign free agent Plaxico Burress "in the coming days."
Per La Canfora, it'll be a one-year contract for the veteran's minimum. Plax still has a big name, but his game has been far less notable since an 18-month prison sentence on weapons charges in New York kept him out of football for all of 2009 and 2010. Burress appeared in four games in Pittsburgh last year, catching three balls and scoring once. He'll turn 36 before the upcoming season.

Mon Dec 31 201214:46Burress plans to keep playing in 2013
Plaxico Burress said he plans to keep playing in 2013.
Burress appeared in four games for the Steelers in 2012 and caught three passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. The 35-year-old may plan to keep playing, but he's going to need a team to offer him a job. If it wasn't for the Steelers getting depleted at the receiver position in late November, Burress likely would have been hanging out with Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson on the street for the entire year.

Sun Dec 16 201214:57Plax not suiting up for Pittsburgh Sunday
Steelers declared WR Plaxico Burress, QB Byron Leftwich, LG Willie Colon, OT Mike Adams, CB Ike Taylor, CB Cortez Allen and DT Al Woods inactive for Week 15 against the Cowboys.
Taylor and Allen's absence leaves Pittsburgh perilously thin at cornerback. Keenan Lewis and Curtis Brown should get the call against Dez Bryant and Miles Austin. The Steelers will get first-round rookie OG David DeCastro (knee surgery) back, however. He'll start and make his NFL debut at right guard.

Fri Dec 7 201213:38Plaxico without a role going forward
Plaxico Burress was on the field for just one snap versus the Ravens in Week 13.
As expected, Plax is a non-factor for the Steelers. With Jerricho Cotchery and Antonio Brown now healthy, Burress is a good bet to be a healthy scratch in Week 14. "He's been around long enough to understand where he fits right now," said OC Todd Haley.

Sun Nov 25 201217:56Plaxico Burress draws a PI call in end zone
Plaxico Burress was held without a catch on one official target in the Steelers' Week 12 loss to the Browns.
Playing a very limited package of plays, Burress was actually targeted twice. The first ball was a little too wide for him and it bounced off his fingers. The second ws a pure jump ball in the end zone that resulted in a pass interference call on Sheldon Brown. Burress didn't show poorly, but he'll be the Steelers No. 4 wideout in Week 13 with Antonio Brown (ankle) due back. As expected, there's no fantasy appeal here.

Sat Nov 24 201218:29Burress to play in red-zone packages
Mike Wallace confirms that the team has penciled Plaxico Burress into the game plan as a red zone option.
Burress, 35, doesn't know the offense yet, so a red zone option is about all he can offer to the team on the field. His new Steelers teammates do note that Burress has taken on a leadership role in film study and on the practice field, though. Burress isn't a fantasy option at the moment.

Wed Nov 21 201208:27Plaxico Burress will play in red-zone package
Plaxico Burress said he expects to play in a red-zone package designed for him.
The red zone is about the only place a 35-year-old Burress could even think about being an asset in right now. He doesn't know Todd Haley's system and won't play ahead of Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown (questionable, ankle) or Emmanuel Sanders. Expect a fistful of plays for Burress most weeks.

Tue Nov 20 201212:35Report: Steelers will sign WR Plaxico Burress
The Steelers plan to sign WR Plaxico Burress.
Antonio Brown (ankle) is questionable for Week 12 and Jerricho Cotchery (ribs) is out. The Steelers liked what they saw out of Burress in a Tuesday workout and will add him as mere depth behind healthy wideouts Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders. The 35-year-old Burress has been on the street since last season, when he recorded 45 catches for 612 yards and eight touchdowns for the Jets. There's no fantasy upside here with Brown close to a return and Charlie Batch set to start against the Browns Sunday.

Mon Nov 19 201218:02Steelers pursuing free agent Plaxico Burress
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers have scheduled a physical for free agent Plaxico Burress.
Antonio Brown remains out with a high ankle sprain, and fill-in third receiver Jerricho Cotchery suffered an undisclosed injury in Sunday night's loss to the Ravens. The Steelers likely wouldn't have made their interest in Plax known unless they intended to sign him. It sounds like this deal should get done by Tuesday. Burress, 35, has been out of football this season. He caught 45 balls for 612 yards and eight touchdowns with the Jets in 2011.

Thu Oct 4 201210:07Jets don't like Plaxico's mix with Sanchez
According to the Daily News, free agent Plaxico Burress won't be back with the Jets because the team believes he's bad for Mark Sanchez's development.
Burress caught eight touchdowns for the Jets a year ago, but has drawn virtually no interest on the open market this season. The Jets chose to sign Jason Hill instead of him. Burress, 35, apparently burned his bridge with the club when he questioned Sanchez's ability after the season.

Sun Sep 2 201220:02Plaxico Burress wants Jets to re-sign him
Free agent Plaxico Burress isn't giving up hope of re-signing with the Jets.
The NY Daily News has repeatedly reported that the Jets have "no interest" in re-signing Plax, but he's still holding out hope. "I understand they are going with young guys they want to groom and have long-term goals," Burress said. "I'm not a long-term solution. One year, maybe two." Plax "believe(s)" he's still going to catch on this year, and is willing to play for the NFL minimum.

Mon Aug 13 201208:15Patriots not expected to sign Plaxico Burress
The Patriots are not expected to sign free agent WR Plaxico Burress.
The Pats did their due diligence by giving Burress a workout on Sunday, but this was never a good fit right now. They already have three red-zone threats in Rob Gronkowski, Brandon Lloyd and Aaron Hernandez. Burress would have been nothing more than the fourth wideout, battling with the likes of Jabar Gaffney for snaps. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Plaxico is now on the Patriots' "emergency list."
