Brewers released INF Bobby Crosby.
Crosby was in the running for a couple of wide-open bench jobs this spring in Brewers camp, but he batted just .188/.235/.250 in 17 Grapefruit League plate appearances. The 33-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010.

Tue Mar 5 201311:54Crosby (thigh) ready for Cactus League debut
Bobby Crosby (thigh) will make his Cactus League debut Tuesday at third base.
Crosby's comeback attempt has been slowed this spring due to a left thigh strain, but he's finally ready to go. The 33-year-old hasn't played in the majors since 2010 when he batted just .220/.294/.298 with the Pirates and Diamondbacks, so he's unlikely to make a major impact.

Thu Feb 28 201312:40Crosby sidelined with left thigh strain
Bobby Crosby is idle right now in Brewers camp as he attempts to recover from a left thigh strain.
"He still feels it when he tries to run," manager Ron Roenicke said Thursday morning. "We're hoping this doesn't go much longer." Crosby hasn't appeared in a major league game since the 2010 campaign and seems doubtful to make an impact for Milwaukee this season.

Mon Feb 18 201315:54Brewers to try Bobby Crosby at first base
Bobby Crosby will get a look at first base this spring.
The Brewers are trying to line up options for the position with Corey Hart (knee) out for at least the first month and Mat Gamel (knee) now unavailable for the entire season. Crosby hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2010, when he batted just .220/.294/.298 in 70 games between the Pirates and D'Backs. He can be ignored in fantasy leagues this year no matter what his role is.

Tue Jan 22 201315:15Brewers ink INF Crosby to minors deal
Brewers signed INF Bobby Crosby to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Crosby would make $800,000 if he is on the major league roster and could earn an additional $450,000 in incentives. The 33-year-old infielder hasn't played professionally since 2010 when he batted just .220/.294/.298 with one home run in 168 at-bats between the Pirates and Diamondbacks. With such a long layoff, he'll enter spring training as a longshot candidate.

Thu Jan 13 201118:113 teams interested in shortstop Bobby Crosby
According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of MLB Trade Rumors, three teams have expressed interest in free agent infielder Bobby Crosby.
Crosby was released by the Diamondbacks in late August of 2010 after batting just .220/.294/.298 with one home run in 168 at-bats between Pittsburgh and Arizona. MLBTR's source claims that one team is eyeing the 31-year-old as a shortstop and that the other two only want him for utility purposes. Our guess is that this "source" is actually Crosby's agent, because no major league team is really going to use him for anything more than organizational depth.

Not much of a surprise. Crosby was just a warm body in the Chris Snyder trade, anyway. The 30-year-old infielder has batted just .220/.294/.298 with one home run and 13 RBI in 168 at-bats between the Pirates and Diamondbacks this season.

Sat Jul 31 201010:40D-backs get Carrasco, others in Snyder deal
The D-backs are expected to receive D.J. Carrasco, Bobby Crosby and Ryan Church from the Pirates in the pending deal for Chris Snyder, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert.
The Pirates will also receive an unidentified minor leagues in the deal. This was mostly just a salary dump move for the D-backs, as Crosby and Church are of little use to them. Carrasco is a somewhat useful reliever, though. Snyder is due just under $1.5 million the rest of this season and $5.75 million in 2011, with a $6.75 million club option for 2012 that includes a $750,000 buyout. It's not clear yet how much money the D-backs will be sending to the Pirates in the deal.
