Fri Aug 2 201312:09Indians release RHP Boof Bonser
Indians released RHP Boof Bonser.
Bonser signed in late June after he was released by the Giants. Cleveland activated Bonser from the minor league disabled list before cutting him. He posted a 6.00 ERA over 15 innings with Triple-A Columbus after logging a 5.87 ERA over 15 starts at Triple-A Fresno. This isn't the end of the road for one of baseball's best names, but the hurler who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2010 is highly unlikely to make it back.

Wed Dec 8 201016:53Mets ink Boof Bonser to minor league deal
Mets signed RHP Boof Bonser to a minor league contract.
Bonser was removed from the A's 40-man roster in November and elected to become a free agent. He posted a 6.12 ERA in 15 relief appearances this past season, but many of those failures can be chalked up to injuries and he should make for fine organizational depth in the Mets' system.

Mon Dec 6 201019:10Mets have discussions Bonser, Tankersley
The Mets have had discussions with both Boof Bonser and Taylor Tankersley.
The Mets are going bargain shopping this winter, and Bonser and Tankersley are both mildly interesting names. Bonser has had problems with injuries and success since his rookie season, but he's maintained good peripherals and would be a solid low-risk move. It's unclear if the Mets would look at him as a starter or reliever. Tankersley is a former first-round pick that can get swings and misses but has major control issues.

Bonser was designated for assignment by the Red Sox earlier this month. The 28-year-old right-hander allowed four runs in two innings during a brief stint with the big club this season. After spending the first two months on the DL, Bonser made just two appearances for the Red Sox, allowing four runs in two innings. Sun May 9 201019:34Bonser to toss 60-65 pitches next rehab start
Boof Bonser (shoulder, groin) is scheduled to throw 60-65 pitches on Wednesday for Triple-A Pawtucket.
Bonser, who has felt good on the mound recently, continues to progress as the Red Sox attempt to stretch him out and get him on a throwing rotation. "Trying to get him built back up and stay on the normal five day rotation and try to build up and keep progressing with his arm strength. As his arm strength progresses, he can execute his pitches," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. Bonser is being groomed for pitching depth, although it's unknown when Boston will necessitate his services.
