The 33-year-old was used primarily as a pinch-hitter in 2014, logging 157 at-bats in 100 games. His catching days are seemingly behind him -- he started just two games behind the dish last season -- and he hit just .197/.235/.318 with Atlanta, but Doumit could still garner interest as a low-cost bench bat.

It came off a guy who should be in A-ball in Wei-Chung Wang. Still, he'll take it. He's just 11-for-47 this year, as he's struggled to adapt to having such a limited role for the first time in his career.

Ryan Doumit confirmed upon his arrival to Braves camp on Friday that he is willing to catch if necessary.
With Evan Gattis firmly entrenched as the Braves starting backstop and Gerald Laird a capable backup, there shouldn't be many opportunities for Doumit to get behind the dish barring injury. He'll see most of his time in the outfield and as a backup behind Freddie Freeman at first base.

Wed Dec 18 201315:33Braves acquire Ryan Doumit from Twins
Braves acquired C/OF Ryan Doumit from the Twins for LHP Sean Gilmartin.
Atlanta will use Doumit as a third catcher, backup outfielder/first baseman and bench bat. In accepting the trade, the Braves agreed to assume all of Doumit's $3.5 million commitment next season. Doumit limped to a .247/.314/.396 slash line while dealing with concussion issues in the latter stages of 2013. Doumit is one of the game's worst defensive backstops. Atlanta is banking on the return of his bat, which collected a sizzling .283/.330/.466 slash line with 26 homers and 105 RBI over 764 plate appearances between 2011-'12.

Wed Dec 18 201314:51Report: Braves close to trade for Doumit
The Braves are close to acquiring Ryan Doumit from the Twins, according to Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan.
No word yet on Minnesota's return. Doumit swings a solid bat, is signed for reasonable money, and can handle both corner outfield positions and first base defensively, in addition to catcher. The bad news is that he's horrific in the field no matter where you put him and fell to a .247/.314/.396 slash line in 2013, unacceptable for a no-defense bat. The 32-year-old will back up Evan Gattis in Atlanta.

The Twins will not use Ryan Doumit at catcher anymore this season.
He actually hasn't caught a single game since coming off the concussion DL on August 16. Doumit said that his previous concussion was "100 percent a factor" in the decision not to use him behind the plate anymore in 2013. "At this point, it is not worth getting back there and taking another one and spend a whole offseason trying to recover," Doumit added. "It's the safe route." With Joe Mauer also dealing with post-concussion issues, Josmil Pinto will receive the bulk of the starts at catcher down the stretch.
