Meek had been pitching well for Triple-A Syracuse, holding a 2.15 ERA with six saves in 37.2 innings, but is making the jump to South Korea instead of continuing to pitch in Syracuse. Meek replaces former perfect game pitcher Philip Humber on the Kia Tigers.

The Nats have a pretty set bullpen, so Meek would likely be slotted to long relief if he did find a way to make the team. At least the veteran will get a chance to work for a contender. The 31-year-old veteran did have nice 1.94 ERA and 16 saves in 39 games at Triple-A last season.

Meek was outrighted last week after pitching 23.1 innings for the Orioles in 2014. He made 23 total appearances, posting a 5.79 ERA while allowing 15 earned runs and 11 walks. In 39 Triple-A appearances, his ERA was much friendlier, hovering just under 2.00 (1.94) in 41.2 innings. The 31-year-old will look to earn a Spring Training invite from another club this offseason.

Rangers signed RHP Evan Meek to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Meek was once considered a reliable setup man, but he's dealt with shoulder issues for going on two years and may never bounce back to his old form. The 29-year-old right-hander posted a 6.75 ERA in 12 innings this past season for Pittsburgh. He will be competing for a spot in the Rangers' bullpen during spring training.
