Meek has been granted his release to sign with the Kia Tigers in South Korea, Mark Zuckerman of Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic reports.

Meek had been pitching well for Triple-A Syracuse, holding a 2.15 ERA with six saves in 37.2 innings, but is making the jump to South Korea instead of continuing to pitch in Syracuse. Meek replaces former perfect game pitcher Philip Humber on the Kia Tigers.

Meek was reassigned to the Nationals' minor league camp on Monday.

He failed to make a positive impression in spring training, but could provide some bullpen depth down the road for the club if he accepts a minor league assignment.
