Hunter (undisclosed) and the 49ers agreed to terms of an injury settlement Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
After the preseason slate wrapped up, Hunter was suddenly placed on season-ending injured reserve. With an injury settlement in his back pocket, he has the ability to resign with the 49ers once he reaches the conclusion of the settlement, likely in six weeks' time.
Sat Sep 5 201517:35Hunter (undisclosed) placed on season-ending injured reserve
Hunter (undisclosed) has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, CSN Bay Area reports.
The 49ers didn't provide any details, but it's quite possible this is related to the torn ACL that caused Hunter to miss all of last season. He struggled during the preseason, allowing rookie Mike Davis to emerge as the likely No. 3 running back.

Hunter (knee) made his preseason debut against the Broncos on Sunday, toting the rock seven times but only managing to gain 15 yards.
Hunter definitely looked like a player who had been sidelined for over a year. He was expected to come back and slot into the third running back role for the 49ers, but now that job may be in jeopardy. With most starters getting Thursday's final preseason game off, Hunter will have to stave off rookies Mike Davis and Jarryd Hayne with a solid showing against the Chargers.

Hunter (knee) was absent from the 49ers' injury report released on Tuesday, Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Hunter missed last season due to a torn ACL, but the full season off allowed his knee to fully heal. The 49ers signed Reggie Bush and drafted rookie running back Mike Davis, so it will be interesting to see what Hunter's role is in the backfield to start the season.
Thu May 14 201511:12Hunter returning to form
Hunter, who missed last season with a torn ACL, is returning to form, according to GM Trent Baalke, csnbayarea.com reports. "He's back to being Kendall," Baalke noted. "His speed is back to where it was pre-injury. He's really had a fine offseason."
While his return to health bolsters the 49ers' backfield depth, touches may be hard to come by for Hunter out of the gate this season. Though Frank Gore is no longer in the team's mix, Carlos Hyde in line to be the top option at running back, with Reggie Bush on hand in a change-of-pace role and rookie Mike Davis viewed by Baalke as capable of handing a three-down role.
Sun Apr 12 201516:04Hunter continues to progress in recovery from ACL injury
Hunter continues to progress in his recovery from an ACL injury, NFL.com reports.
The report notes that a video on the 49ers' official site shows Hunter running well during the team's offseason workouts. Assuming his health, Hunter will look to carve out a role in the 49ers' post-Frank Gore backfield, which is on track to be headed by Carlos Hyde and Reggie Bush.

Hunter (knee) cleared waivers and was placed on the 49ers' IR, the Sacramento Bee.
As expected, no team wanted to claim the injured running back with his contract expiring after this season. The 49ers have placed him on the injured reserve list and he will no longer count against the 90-man roster.
Mon Aug 4 201420:01Kendall Hunter: (Knee) Waived/Injured Monday
Hunter was waived/injured by the 49ers on Monday, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.
After suffering a torn ACL last week, Hunter can now be claimed by any organization. However, he's only produced modest results in three seasons, averaging 4.59 YPC in 262 career carries. If he lands outside of San Francisco, though, an organization will be investing much in his recovery from a serious injury. In the meantime, rookie Carlos Hyde is the presumptive candidate to wrangle the 49ers' backup running back gig behind Frank Gore.
Sun Jul 27 201415:2049ers want to re-sign Kendall Hunter
49ers GM Trent Baalke "made it clear" Sunday the team hopes to re-sign contract-year RB Kendall Hunter despite his right ACL tear.
The 49ers could probably keep Hunter for very cheap after he tore both his Achilles' and ACL in a three-year span. "We'd love to have Kendall," Baalke said. "Kendall is a tremendous football player and an even better young man. He is a mentally tough young man, so I'd expect that he'd come back very well from the injury." Dynasty league owners of Hunter can consider dropping him.

Sat Jul 26 201412:27Kendall Hunter tears ACL, done for season
49ers RB Kendall Hunter tore the ACL in his right knee during Friday's practice.
He is done for the season. Even though running back was a position of depth for the 49ers, this injury is a blow to the offense. Rookie Carlos Hyde is now the favorite to back up Frank Gore, and out-of-favor LaMichael James could also see an increase to his workload. Hunter was entering the final year of his rookie deal.

Sat Jul 26 201412:14Kendall Hunter has 'significant' knee injury?
The 49ers reportedly fear Kendall Hunter's knee injury could be "significant."
He went down in Friday's practice. The 49ers are awaiting MRI results. If Hunter misses much time, rookie Carlos Hyde would come into more opportunity.

Sat Jul 26 201410:2649ers worried about Kendall Hunter's leg
49ers Kendall Hunter suffered a leg injury during Friday's practice.
The severity of the injury is unknown, but ESPN's Ed Werder reported the 49ers "didn't like the way it looked" and are "concerned." Hunter will likely get an MRI today to assess the severity of the injury. Rookie Carlos Hyde would step into the No. 2 role if Hunter is forced to miss any time.

Wed Jun 25 201420:23Kendall Hunter remains 49ers No. 2 back
CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco confirms Kendall Hunter "clearly" remains the 49ers' No. 2 running back entering training camp.
Hunter has a lead on Carlos Hyde and Marcus Lattimore "based on his knowledge of the 49ers' protections and willingness to stick his face in to take on blitzers." Pass pro is something with which first-year players like Hyde and Lattimore routinely struggle. We still prefer Hyde over Hunter as Frank Gore's handcuff, because Hyde would be a better bet for early-down and goal-line work in the event of injury to 31-year-old Gore.

Sun Jan 19 201423:20Kendall Hunter rushes for 16 yards in NFCCG
Kendall Hunter rushed three times for 16 yards in San Francisco's NFC Championship Game loss to the Seahawks.
Hunter wasn't targeted in the passing game. Hunter actually out-gained Frank Gore despite getting eight fewer carries. Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, the 5-foot-7, 199-pound Hunter now has 262 career carries for 1,202 yards (4.6 YPC). He's mixed in 27 catches for an additional 268 yards. Although the presence of Marcus Lattimore clouds Hunter's Dynasty-league value, he'll be back and ready for a bigger role in 2014 as the 49ers look to lessen the wear on an aging Frank Gore.

Sun Jan 12 201416:12Kendall Hunter limited to 27 yards Sunday
Kendall Hunter rushed nine times for 27 yards in the 49ers' Divisional Round win over the Panthers.
The 49ers mixed in Hunter in the first quarter, but scrapped their change-of-pace back following an early deficit and utilized Frank Gore as a workhorse while generally playing pass-first football until they grabbed a two-score second-half lead. That's when Hunter got his carries. Hunter will likely see a smaller workload in next week's NFC Championship clash at Seattle.

Kendall Hunter managed four yards on two carries as the 49ers defeated the Packers in Sunday night's Wild Card playoff game.
Operating as Frank Gore's "breather" back, Hunter was stuffed at or near the line of scrimmage on each of his carries. His role won't change in the Divisional Round.

Sun Dec 29 201320:19Hunter wraps regular season with 2 touches
Kendall Hunter rushed two times for 13 yards in Sunday's Week 17 win at Arizona.
On a day the 49ers' run game had no shot, Hunter was predictably quiet. He managed to stay healthy and ahead of Anthony Dixon/LaMichael James all year, finishing the regular season with 78 carries for 358 yards and three touchdowns. The 2012 Achilles' tear is deep in the rear-view mirror. Hunter remains a hold in Dynasty formats as Frank Gore continues to climb into his 30s with tons of tread on his tires.

Tue Dec 24 201300:45Kendall Hunter runs for 51 yards in victory
Kendall Hunter rushed for 51 yards on three carries in Week 16 versus Atlanta.
Hunter's big run was a 45-yard scamper down inside the Falcons' five-yard line to set up Frank Gore's one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Other than that, Hunter was a non-factor like he has been for much of the season.

Kendall Hunter rushed eight times for 40 yards in the 49ers' Week 15 win over Tampa Bay.

Sun Dec 8 201320:37Kendall Hunter rushes four times in win
Kendall Hunter rushed four times for 16 yards in San Francisco's Week 14 win over the Seahawks.
Hunter wasn't targeted in the passing game, where he ceded snaps to FB Bruce Miller. The necessity of holding onto Hunter as a high-upside handcuff has faded now that we're down to the money weeks in fantasy football leagues.
