Cotts was traded to the Twins immediately following Friday night's game for a player to be named later or cash.
Cotts has served mainly as the second lefty out of the bullpen for Milwaukee and served well, putting together a 3.28 ERA in 50 appearances. The 25-year-old is a free agent after this season, so this is a pure rental for Minnesota as it pushes for the second wild card spot. As long as Cotts isn't forced to face many right-handers (.284/.376/.471 slash line against) he could be an asset for the Twins, which ranks in the bottom 10 in bullpen ERA in the majors.

The Rangers' regular closer, Neftali Feliz was given the night off after throwing 31 pitches the last two days, but he should be ready for the next save situation that presents itself.

It wasn't a pretty site as Cotts gave up an eighth inning two-run homer to outfielder Robbie Grossman, while also allowing one more runner to cross the plate. Cotts, who was supposed to be apart of the Rangers plans for late-inning situations, seems to be pitching his way out of save chances. Cotts' ERA jumped up to 3.73 on the season.

The Orioles and Rangers are discussing a trade that would send Neal Cotts to Baltimore, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan.

Sullivan reported Tuesday that the Rangers were also considering an extension for the 34-year-old. Tue Jul 29 201420:15Rangers considering extension for Cotts
MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that the Rangers are considering signing Neal Cotts to a contract extension.
They're fielding trade offers for Cotts, but Sullivan says extending the left-hander "could be preferable to the Rangers." Cotts has been fantastic since the beginning of last season, posting a 2.03 ERA and 115/36 K/BB ratio over 102 relief innings. "That wouldn't be bad," Cotts said of a potential extension. "Not at all, with the people we have coming back. We have had quite a few injuries and we have underplayed somewhat, but I think it will be a different situation next year. We're going to have a good ballclub."

Sun Jan 22 201208:46Neal Cotts can't pass physical due to hip
Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that free agent reliever Neal Cotts is throwing well but is unable to pass a physical because of a bad hip.
Cotts had a procedure on his hip back in June of 2010 and evidently still isn't totally healthy. He hasn't appeared in a major league game since May of 2009, as he also had Tommy John surgery during that stretch. Cafardo thinks Cotts "could easily pitch in the majors, bad hip and all," but it doesn't sound like the 31-year-old is drawing much interest.
